Games tend to be compared to their predecessors when it comes to review scores, just like Gears of War 2 and Gears of War 3, even though Gears of War 3 is most likely the better game.

From what I've seen, Naughty Dog are going all out with Uncharted 3, it looks amazing. I think it will beat Gears of War 3's Metacritic score, but beating Uncharted 2's would be unlikely.

I think it depends on how fresh ND make U3 like if they reuse ideas for U2 kiss that 96 good bye, I think it has a good chance of getting a 95 or above

Judging by Uncharted 2's metacirtic I'd say yes,

It's hard to tell. Uncharted 1 was a pretty good game. Uncharted 2 was a fucking amazing game. It took everything about Uncharted 1 and improved on it. Better story, better pacing, better graphics, better enemy AI, better characterization, etc. It got rave reviews and it deserved it. It's pretty much a given that U3 will take everything from the second game and improve upon that, too. It just depends on how much. How much better will the graphics get? How much better will the online get? How good will the story be?

I can see some reviewers marking the game down because the story may be predictable or the gameplay may be too familiar or because they want people to come to their site (Like how one movie review site gave Toy Story 3 a scathing review just to get attention). Uncharted 3 is faced with the burden of having huge expectations placed upon it because it follows a game that did everything so unexpectedly well. If that's the case, so be it. We all know that we are getting one of the year's best games, no matter what the reviewers say.

GoW3 will probably drop to below 90 as games always loose 1-2 points since less favourable reviews tend to be posted later (happens almost always at metacritic)

The truth has been said with ease: It'll likely beat gears 3, unless it turns out the game is a disappointment, but it's almost impossible to beat Uncharted 2.

like I always said, 92-94, Gears a 91-93, both are phenomenal review scores.

One thing though, I HATE how superior sequels are getting lower scores. inFamous 2 was a massive leap forward in quality, yet it got a lower meta. Killzone 3 was a considerable leap, yet it got lower than Killzone 2. LittleBigPlanet 2 was also a massive improvement, PLUS had everything the first game had, and it still got a lower score. Ratchet and Clank A Crack in Time was the best in that series and yet it got the lowest score. Gears 3 is a jump over gears 2, and yet it's getting lower scores.

I know expectations have a lot to do with it, but seriously, this is getting ridiculous.

Probably unless its a slight disappointment (critic wise) since UC2 had something like 94 meta critic.
