Only 3 maps in the DLC? :(  I know there are also weapon skins and characters in there, but I expected 4 or 5 maps. Especially since the list of all the maps that leaked had 23 maps in total.

The first Gears of War 3 weekend event launched today on Xbox LIVE and it includes one of the very first mutators from this past Spring's beta, the Big Head mode.

The Big Head Mode runs through the weekend for the public Horde playlist and for Team Death Match. It's also available in both Ranked and Quick Matches.

There will be more weekend events planned for October according to Epic's Rod Fergusson in a video where he answered fan questions and talked about the upcoming Horde Command Center DLC. Some of those mentioned include Torque Bow Tag (only the Torque Bow equipped), all shotguns and a special event for Halloween.

Epic designed Gears of War 3 to make it easy for the developers to change up maps, weapons and special mutators so we should expect these Gears weekends to be a regular occurence.

Gears of War 3's first slice of add-on content will launch 1st November, Microsoft has announced.

The Horde Command Pack is priced at 800 Microsoft Points. It's the first of four helpings of DLC free to owners of the 2400 MSP Gears 3 Season Pass.

The extra content comprises three extra maps, four new fortification upgrades, three new characters and a pair of new weapon skins.

Added levels are Gears 2 map Blood Drive; the bullet-ridden decomissioned battleship Rustlung; and island resort Azura.

New upgrades are the firepower-boosting Command Centre, plus better versions of the Decoy, Sentry and Silverback exo-suit.

New playable characters are Big Rig Dizzy, Bernie and the Onyx Guard. New weapons skins are the Team Plasma and Jungle Camo.

Gears developer Epic has said it will "constantly" work on post-launch updates for the third-person shooter, with campaign, multiplayer and co-op additions all planned.

just finished the campaign mode. Stroy was a little lackluster, but I guess I shouldn't expect much out of the narrative from a sci-fi TPS game. Luckily the multiplayer is so fun it makes up for it. Beast mode is an cool addition, and they completely improved horde mode from Gears 2. I really appreciate the RTS angle they kinda brought to it with the fortifications and upgrades and whatnot.

Funniest thing in the world--I got the Gears Limited Edition with the Flag and the Award and stuff but I kept it in my closet since I didn't want my GF to know I got the game. Today, I took the set out of my closet and displayed it on a shelf.

My GF saw it and told me how proud she was of my award!! It even has Adam Fenix's name etched into the Cog but she thinks I won it!! Boy, she'll fall for anything!!

Maybe, just maybe you used the Jedi mind trick on her.
