Forums - Microsoft - Gears of War 3. Stop getting your knickers in a twist.

Gears of War as franchise had it's fans hook line and sinker from the moment the first game came out. It's fans loved the 2nd but wanted better multiplayer.

Now they have the best Gears yet on all fronts and the same fans will continue to buy it because they know they love Gears and want it.

Just because some reviews have said the game should be smarter ( which is ironic considering the game is trying not to be. It's the point of the series ) etc etc  does not in anyway change the fan of Gears of War.

My point is this.

A 90 or 91 metacritic does not change the fact we have the best Gears yet at which point over 6 million people will still buy the damn game and think its the best thing since sliced bread.

People wake up. Reviews mean jack.

MW3 could score 70 meta and still sell. And its fans would consider it better than MW2.

Reviewers are companies first and have a bottom dollar to think about.

Stop whining and get ready to enjoy the best shooter of the year (behind Halo Anniversary) LOL.

Reviews mean a lot actually it's just that the reviewers say it's not smart, but who cares honestly if the game is fun.

I agree with you as far as NEW IP's. Hype and marketing with great reviews helps these franchises.

But franchises like Gran Turismo, Halo and Gears Of War are and always will be top quality and sell by the bucketload.

Reviews of these games wont change that.

It just wont.

Ya I understand, but I don't think you understood my post completely which is definitely my fault. What I mean is that reviews or at least good reviews state what features games have whether it be bad or good I say you (The consumer as a whole) should determine that.

I've always disagreed with reviews, I just look at some games on metacritic and think it is far too overrated / underrated.

Many professional reviews don't go into enough detail and feel more like a summary of a game, rather than a well explained opinion. They also score games to please the crowd or get hits.

Ahhhh.

Gotcha. :)))

I enjoyed Star Wars Episode II but then a reviewer pointed out all of the flaws in the plot and characterization and ever since, I haven't been able to enjoy it as much. So reviews do have an impact. They draw attention to flaws that nobody cares about. But once they point those flaws out, you start thinking about them, too.

But not in the case of Gears of War 3. Game of the year, baby!

Why are people still getting so worked up about how high a sure success rates?

Seriously, does it REALLY matter?  Will you play the game more if it's rated 128 out of 100, or less if its "only" rated 87/100?

You'll play the game and enjoy it just the same, as you've purchased the game before it was even announced. ¬_¬

**Le sigh**

That's a good point actually, but I like to reference to reviews either way just to see what the games contain.
