No, the problem is 100% that NoA is just full of pieces of shit that don't give a rats ass about their fans. If NoA cared half as much as NoJ, this thread would have never even been considered.

I think NoA is probably 75% of the problem.
The other 25% is NoJ who don't give a fuck about the USA either.

It's just terrible all around.

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

The right questions is, is Nintendo doing too little in NA?

This.

Yeah, you`d guess a company would bet even more on the most successful market.
I just don`t understand why EMEAA gets to see games like Pandora`s Tower and Lost Story and "Americas" doesn`t. If Nintendo wants to capture the core gamers with WiiU, why isn`t it pleasing it`s own core gamers before they move on to another platform?
It`s not like a few core games will confuse the market. Unless, somehow, bringing those games would hurt them in some way. But even then i don`t see how.

...Fair enough. But I still say that if NoA brought the list of games that fans have been whining about stateside, nobody would have ever complained.

Fatal Frame 4, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Xenoblade, Pandora's Tower, The Last Story, etc, etc. If we got these games, there wouldn't be a gamer out there complaining about Nintendo's focus.

The press conference was in Japan in a lead-up to the Tokyo Game Show, which is basically the big conference for Japan. Of course they're going to be focusing on Japanese related announcements. Once E3, GDC etc. come around, then Nintendo will announce things for the West.

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

As an example, the PSP initially may have seemed like a device that would appeal to the west more than the DS, but Nintendo won over consumers in all regions by focusing on making the types of games that were its biggest sellers in both markets; Mario Kart, NSMB, Brain Age, etc. I just don't think that you'll ever see sales for COD or Madden on hand helds reaching anywhere near what they do on consoles. I'm not saying these kinds of games on hand helds aren't great to have (the more variety, the better), but they're not the kinds of games that made the DS triumph over the PSP in the west.

Just wait until E3 and I'm sure we'll see more support for many types of games, particularly after the 3DS sells through the roof this holiday.

I don't think Western developers are all that interested in 3DS or Vita for that matter. Vita will likely get more western support but only because it's basically a portable PS3 and PS3 ports will be easy.

3DS as yet is of no interest to casuals and the core market in Western countries for portables isn't that large. Let's face it, we'd rather play Mario Kart and God of War on home consoles. Plus we have a nasty history of pirating the hell out of portables meaning sales of western core games on either system (DS/PSP) in general weren't too hot.

Japan is another matter altogether. The Japanese prefer portables to home consoles. The Japanese market is also much more important to Japanese developers than Western ones (who don't do great business in Japan). So it's of no surprise that Japanese developers are supporting 3DS more than Western ones.

I don't think 'Bribing' Ubisoft for 3DS support is needed. 'Bribing' them for Assasin's Creed on Wii U might be.

Where Nintendo's strategy for the West is oddly lacking here is in the lack of any titles for the 'blue ocean'. Yes, Nintendogs and Cats but nothing innovative to grabs people's imagination. Were they expecting 3D to do that for them? Or have they accepted that Apple has stolen their market and returned to focus only on core?

Western developers are only excited by the Vita due to it's power. They now have another console to port their home console games too. With that I ask this question are you really going to buy a new AAA on your Vita or PS3/360. No your not you play portable games on a portable device. For the 3DS to be a huge success or at least as big as the DS. They most capture the same markets they had during the DS era. Nintendo is doing everything possible to make sure they win those markets. Once the conquer one area they can then move on to the next. Which makes sense since the Vita will not launch here until next year.

Handhelds still lack Western support of any consequence, therefore dominance of Japan is dominance of the world (again disregarding the mobile market)

Now for consoles, i would agree. Part of Nintendo's needed diversification is drumming up more studios like Retro
