The right questions is, is Nintendo doing too little in NA?

^This .

To fill out some of the holes in Japan's Wii games schedule this year, Nintendo is localizing and publishing in Japan Western titles such as Goldeneye, Epic Mickey and Just Dance among others.

Wow, Nintendo's Tokyo Games show conference was aimed at developers who are based in or near Tokyo? and at gamers who like games made by developers living in or near Tokyo? If only there were some sort of electronic entertainment expo held in the west somewhere...

However Rol suggests and other users support his suggestion that Nintendo is paying Capcom off. Bribing them with special treatment and money essentially doing everything they can to get Monster Hunter.

Woah this is a pretty bold suggestion for them to make. I think using the words 'bribing' is a bit trollish to say the least.

But remember the reasons why Capcom brought tri exclusive to the wii( or at least timed exclusive). Then yall would realize its highly probable that capcom may have brought it exclusive to 3ds on their own free will.

For Western devs, handhelds have never been that much of a focus for them.
People like Majesco or whatever who are smaller can benefit but... people like EA, Ubi, Activision etc do not really drill in support unless they stumble upon a hit and milk it.

H-games are more important to Japanese developers seeing how their market is structured.

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

I think it's true that Nintendo does need to do more with the western market as far as appealing software. I think that's why we are seeing a second slide pad. So it can get those western shooters etc. Though I'm not sure if 3rd parties will use the excuse that it's not as powerul as PS360 or PSV and that it makes ports difficult and have the 3ds missing out on key software support in the west.

Well, think about it. Not even Nintendo themselves care about the West, now why would third parties do?
They always follow Nintendo's line of thinking, and Nintendo has for a long time now, ignored the West.

Their focus is the niche region of Japan. And they are paying a very high price now that their biggest maket is collapsing.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.

Pretty much this. I mean, I saw a comment from someone at Valve the other day. They've no plans of moving into the handheld arena anytime soon, be it 3DS, Vita or otherwise.

The PSP, despite being the more 'western' device and being heralded in the west as the next big thing at the time (doesn't that seem familiar to events of today), it certainly didn't get much western support outside of the first 18 months/2 years of its life. It was ultimately Japanese devs that gave the PSP a lot of content for most of its life.

Looks like the votes are fairly split. I think what they have done the past 5 years or so has gotten them profits. But it is at the cost of the hardcore base. They indeed were very wise with the way they have played the market this gen. They are ending the cycle of the Wii and sales are reflecting that. For most of this gen they were the leaders and introduced video gaming to a whole new crowd.

By evidence of where they are in the console war this gen it is evident that they have not focused too much on Japan. However, they have forgotten some of the major third party developers that MS and Sony capitalized on for the hardcore base. It appears they are trying to get those back for their release of Wii U, which I am still wishy washy on their approach. There are a lot of questions with it.

yes there kissing to much JP. look at all the games released on wii in JP that we'll never see state side.

the west never gets love from ninty. its still better then kissing american but. see the support ninty gets from the west?

No, the problem is 100% that NoA is just full of pieces of shit that don't give a rats ass about their fans. If NoA cared half as much as NoJ, this thread would have never even been considered.
