Forums - Sony Discussion - How many PS3 games actually use the Blu Ray storage?

I can think of 3 games that use more than what a DVD can hold.

1) Resistance:Fall of Man

I heard there is no loading in Uncharted it streams whole level.

Well Warhawk kinda did. Since the game file isnt that big they put in like 10 game trailers that are 1080p that support 7.1 audio.

Technicaly they all do as it only allows BD games. Oblivian does I believe due to all the extra maps. MGS4 does as does GT5. FF will as well. Oh yeah and Lair. I think most games going forward will though. The 360 will just start to get a lot of downloads or a lot of DVDs.

Multiplat games don't because they are also on 360 but exclusive ones do.

How common are games to be put on multiple DVDs anymore? I'm curious how the game is broken up on the disc, as I would imagine it would work best if one disc focused on any multiplayer game content and the other disc focused on the single player portion of the game. So far, the only games I've seen with multiple discs have been PC games.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

Just because something technically uses more space than DVD9 doesn't necessarily mean that it can only be done in Blu-ray. A lot of times, they add in unnecessary things like long uncompressed FMVs, uncompressed audio (the 10gb of HS was confirmed as being uncompressed), or to make up for slow blu-ray streaming times (Oblivion uses more space on PS3 because they duplicated data).

Well Killzone 2 hasn't been released but should definitely end up on the list as the demo level clocks in at 2 gigs as we've heard many times.  The HS thing though is a little iffy.  Yeah it has 10 gigs of sound data but that includes 11 languages since they didn't bother localizing it.  A DVD could definitely handle that if they actually aplit the languages up like other games do.
