If this is confirmed by Capcom itself it will be really surprising!

with 5m sold in japan alone yes bit would be.

It gets even more surprising when you see this possible 3DS esclusive deal in light of 3DS lack of success and some games being delayed because of 3DS performance.
If i`m not mistaken this is Capcom`s biggest franchise in Japan in a console that did not yet show it can reach it`s potential. If true, this truly is a megaton announcement! :D

i'm sure theres a backup plan? on second thought i doubt it. maybe Sony will get the next one exclusive. then again they siad it wasn't paid exclusive (but you and i know better)so imaybe we'll see it with in the next yr?

yea this is sad.

Maybe they didn`t pay for exclusivity for probably offered other incentives or maybe Capcom just wanted to change strategies.
Some people here are talking about a MH4G that may come out, so, who knows? Nothing is confirmed so far.
Capcom said RE4 would be GC exclusive and in the end PS2 got it`s own version!

Wouldn`t it be funny if MH went to 3DS and the Dragon Quest 11 went Vita`s way? That would be really weird! :D

Sony Boss: No Current Plans For New PlayStation Monster Hunter

30 min. ago / Anoop Gantayat
Capcom surprised everyone with the announcement of Monster Hunter 4 for 3DS on Tuesday.

A few days prior to the start of the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom announced Monster Hunter 4 as a 3DS title. A big coup for Nintendo, or is this going to be another example of Capcom's multiplatform strategy?

Based off comments from Sony Computer Entertainment Japan president Hiroshi Kawano, it looks like Monster Hunter 4 really is a 3DS exclusive. During an interview following Sony's pre Tokyo Game Show press conference, Reuters Japan asked Kawano if a new Monster Hunter will be released for Sony systems. "At present, there is no talk of a new Monster Hunter coming to PlayStation," replied Kawano.

The Monster Hunter series saw its greatest success on PlayStation Portable, with each installment selling upwards of four million copies. Earlier this year, Sony used Monster Hunter Portable 3G to show off PlayStation Vita's backwards compatibility with PSP titles.

It's funny how Sony fans act as if they own every third party franchise. Come on, Capcom made a business decision, deal with it. Nintendo is helping Capcom to develop Monster Hunter as a worldwide franchise, Sony hasn't done a bit to export this game outside of Japan.

your either very ignorant or just plain dumb. Damn near all the MH games have been released in the west. Even PS2 had one. There doing more for MH in the west than Ninty is doing for Xenoblade and Last story, but i guess thats all good to you huh?

Capcom published the MH games on PS2 and PSP in the West, so Sony really did nothing.

And your point?? THey also published the Wii game in the West. So Ninty didnt do much in the west

Nintendo covered the marketing in America and Europe and also published the game in Europe.

So who covered marketing for the PSP versions then?

fair enough, i didnt know that

Of course they won't announce it, seriously though it's one of their worst decisions in recent memory.

So much so I'm inclined to believe Nintendo offered incentives.

Im pretty sure of that too. I mean, with the actual line-up for Vita, Nintendo pretty much HAS to secure this as exclusivity by any possible mean. Add to that they release a add-on for this specific game. The add-on will also be offered through game bundle, which mean more money to Capcom as well. I dont say that as a bad thing, its a good move, they played their cards right. Just imagine if Monster Hunter would release on Vita, and before pokemon that is. The situation for Nintendo would look bad. They had to secure this exclusivity, at least as a timed exclusivity with a non disclosure agreement with Capcom.

Maybe, lets just take a look at the second analog accessory. Depending on what Capcom negociated to bundle and market it, we might have a major incentive right here. Basicaly, its Capcom that will sell them for Nintendo. It might even be Nintendo, following the early 3DS sales, who decided to update to a second stick making a deal up with Capcom. In any case, they are playing their cards right in securing this exclusivity in Japan.

morenoingrato# I no that capcom own the franchise but most of their fans are on the sony side. So to just leave them out pisses me off. If it would have been multplattform i wouln't have cared but now...

Their fans are on the Sony side because that's where the game is. Game moves, they move. DQ fans by and large had no problem stomaching the franchise returning to Nintendo, and FF fans handily followed the franchise away to PlayStation

Manufacturer zealots like myself and many around here are rare, and in no way indicative of the market

This, i may not like your outlook, but at least you are bold enough to admit it.
