Forums - Sony Discussion - PSV - Memory Card not included, Embedded Battery

Haven't see this mentioned anywhere else here, so:

1. PSV comes without a memory card. You can't just buy any memory card though, it is proprietary, and the prices are as follows:

Memory card 4GB ¥2,200
Memory card 8GB ¥3,200
Memory card 16GB ¥5,500
Memory card 32GB ¥9,500

2. PSV battery is embedded, so you'll have to send your PSV to have it replaced..

10/19 update:

At least some games wil lrequire the proprietary memory card for save data - launch game Uncharted Golden Abyss being one of them.

. IMO this practically ensures that anyone buying a Vita will need to buy the Sony memory card as well.

hopefully sometime down the line they'll start including internal flash memory 16Gb-32G, it'll be importance for te success of the system in the long run

these memory cards are so expensive, not really bode well for my 720P portable porn plan.

maybe I will buy a 32G memory card for my PSP when they're cheaper, so I can use Vita for games and PSP for porn, also doubling the battery life this way, hmmm, yest, this plan will do.

Well, PS2 also shipped with no internal storage or memory cards.

That didn't stop it from being a success.

Whether it will have any effect on the Vita's success I have no idea, I would think that by itself it won't, not much anyway, but the implication though (that people who are going to buy it should be aware of) is that unless you have no intention of downloading any games (and perhaps other things memory might be used for? No idea), the price of the PSV is not $250 /$300.

The lower end cards are ex, making the top 2 the best choice for us. Which is good for Sony as well, more space means more potential for them to sell digital downloads to us.

I think I will grab a 16 gig at least at launch

$70 for 16GB.

You could buy a 16GB Class10 SD card for $15.

Maybe they are making the "loses" back from selling memory cards?
