I need help!

I do not understand anything about Pokemon.

What does it mean every game will be re-released?

I mean, was grey already been made?

Which are the original games?

Is there a story line? are they linked together?

For which system the original game have been released? All ds games are re-makes?

is people buying the same game all over again for the sake of it?

SOOO CONFUSED!!!!!!!

There are 5 Generations of Pokemon:


Generation 1: 1996-1998

Mainline Games: Red, Green, Blue and Yellow

Main Platform: GB


Generation 2: 1999-2001

Mainline Games: Gold, Silver and Crystal

Main Platform: GB/C


Generation 3: 2002-2005

Main Platform: GBA

Mainline Games: Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, Leaf Green and Fire Red (last 2 remakes of 1st gen)


Generation 4: 2006-2009

Main Platform: DS

Mainline Games: Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Heart Gold and Soul Silver (last 2 remakes of 2nd gen)


Generation 5: 2010-

Main Platform: DS

Mainline Games: Black and White

The original games are Green and Red.  Blue was a revised special edition of the 1st two games.  However when the game was brought to the West, green was removed and replaced with Blue.  So we got Red and Blue, instead of Red and Green.  Which is good as we avoided this fugly mew sprite:

I will start from the DS ones.

Also, outside of the mainline games (which are all excellant RPGs), a lot of the pokemon games are utter crap. Pokemon Channel for the GC is a good example, it was only good for getting Jirachi (an ultra 3rd generation pokemon at the time unobtainable through any other means) and transferring it to Ruby or Sapphire. There are some good ones, but there is a whole lot of stinkers out there.

Oh my God, you mean guys i can transfer or "buy" pokemon from different games and/or consoles?

All this sound really difficult to understand to me.

Anyway i have just bought Diamond/Pearl and Platinum ds

Still no idea if only Platinum could have done the trick or I have to play all 3.
