Forums - Gaming - Is Deus Ex Human Revolution still fun without stealth?

I usually don´t like stealth games, find them a bit boring...but I´ve been interested in Deus Ex HR for a while, and would like to know opinions about the combat...I do like Uncharted and Gears of War, so would you say I´d probably enjoy the combat?

Is it possible to play the game without stealth?..if the answer is yes, does the game lose much of its fun factor, in your opinion?

Yes you can. You can do everything stealthily, go in with guns blazing or just do whatever you want....at least that's what a video I watched of it said.

im not convinced the game is any fun with stealth and i just beat it this morning.

The game is designed for stealth and it kinda pushes you towards stealth gameplay by limiting ammo and dying extremely quickly. I also found it more fun, challenging and rewarding playing it stealthily. That being said its a very player driven game, and there's augmentations that suite each play style. So if you build up your abilities for frontal combat then you will probably be okay. The gun fighting is solid fun too :)

Stealth is better, but stealthy shooting is how I did it. Towards the start I did my best to avoid people, but by the end, I used my invisibility to get into positions to isolate and take down guards, but there were some areas where I just opened fire

Also, I did find one or two places where I could take cover and there was only route that they come come, allowing me to take down about 10 guards in 30 seconds with 20 shots to the head

Similar here stealthy shooting :)

A silenced pistol and headshots. My prefered way of playing :D

It's definately possible to play with no stealth (as it's generally possible to play any way you want) but using stealth is very useful. I'm currently playing a "shoot everyone" playthrough and I still use stealth to set myself up (much like in Uncharted 2). I still find it fun but I think it's more rewarding to combine both stealth and action. There are a fair few augmentations/abilities designed for action based players too.

I reckon you'd enjoy the combat as it does play like Uncharted. I don't find ammo to be a problem either and as I said I'm currently playing a "shoot everyone" style game. Just remember to try to take down targets quickly using head shots and you find you have plenty of ammo.

I'm 30 hours in and going stealth all the way. I'm taking out everyone by knocking them unconscious and hiding the bodies. Knocking out 2 guards at once with the reflex skill does wonders. I only rarely use the tranq rifle or stun gun. No problem with ammo since I don't use any.

It takes a lot longer though, having to stake out each room and figure out the order in which to take out the guards.

When I get bored I let a turret or robot do the work for me. Carry a hacked turret around and put it in a door way, easiest way to clear a path.

I could just walk by everything by now with max cloak, silent running/jumping and tons of money to buy instant door hacks, nuke software etc. But exploring and hacking is more fun.
