Forums - Gaming - What is the Scariest Game You Have Played This Gen?

First few chapters of Dead Space scared the crap outta me, but after a while I got use to the style and the atmosphere and it wasn't so scary anymore, overall I think the first Condemned is better (2nd one is mehish).

Siren: Blood Curse is pretty good, I know people that have completed both Dead Space and Condemned would not finish it, but I'm a slut when it comes to Asian style horrors and I can take them from all sides, so it doesn't scare me that much, same goes for Fatal Frame 4.

Haven't tried Dead Space 2 or Metro, F.E.A.R games made me laugh, Amnesia was weird like shit and I gave up after 30 minutes or so, just don't enjoy that kind of game.

Overall from the games I've played:

1. Condemned: Criminal Origins

2. Tied between Siren: Blood Curse and Dead Space

3. Fatal Frame 4

Also believe it or not the game, "Peter Jackson's King Kong" kept my heart pumping in spots. Having 3 mean looking Raptors chase you to eat you alive while you try to fend them off with a stick is a bit stressful :).

I'd actually say the giant millipedes were the scariest part of that game. They get you to crawl through small spaces and hollowed out logs and SURPRISE!!! GIANT MILLIPEDE IN YOUR FACE!

Ya those were a bit stressful. Especially in sections when you had to fend off 5 or 6 at a time in a small space while you prance your character around in circles trying to stab/dodge them.

Still looking for a physical copy though. I only played the Demo. Does playing the demo count?

Looking forward to Silent Hill downpour and Amy. Yay!!

Oh man I forgot Bioshock. Yup definitely Bioshock.

I played the demo of condemned and it was freaking insane, but I have beaten Amnesia and it was definitely the scariest game I've played. I don't play a lot of horror games.

I don't know if you'd consider Half-Life 2 part of this gen but it's the scarriest I've played myself. Valve is just so good at making engrossing atmospheres. The zombie village part...ugh.

Yeah Valve does amazing work. Especially in the Half Life series. I remember way back when I first played the first Half Life on PC. Those were some of the most suspenseful moments in gaming back in the day. of course I was in my teens, and that game had a lot of new experiences in gaming. The first Half LIfe will go down as one of the best classics in my book for suspense. They kept that going with Half Life 2 as well.

I'm a fan of scary, atmospheric and creepy games, but I don't think I'd consider Dead Space as a top contender for any of those attributes, despite loving the franchise. The only real answer is SIREN: Blood Curse, it's a game that is purely designed to scare the shit out of you, from the way you move, the way you fight, the way the levels are designed and so on. It's hard to get scared in games like Bioshock, Condemned and Dead Space when you have a 2X4 in one hand or a machine gun in another.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.

almost forgot this one, overall not as good as Siren, but it had a couple of moments that I think are insanely scary.

Condemned and Siren hope i could add RE6 to the list i was a big fan of zero-code veronica, they need to change something with that series

Dead Space, on hard, first part of the game...the last part of the game is only shooting without horror.
