Forums - Sony - Sony should stop using Kevin Butler for their dark-toned games.

sony can learn a thing or two from microsoft and their ads. Primarily the halo reach add campaign. Beautiful trailer that actually made people see the game. kb basically just makes fun of the games and you barely see them.

Agreed, the Reach trailer showed gritty atmosphere one would experience in the campaign quite well. In fact, I'd say it made the game appear more gritty than it really was.

I agree, I think Kevin Butler should advertise the Playstation itself and it's new features.

Going off what Spartan said. MS was pretty good with the Halo Reach, Fable 3, & Gears trailers. They all promoted the gritty atmosphere that one would experience in the games. Halo Reach & Fable 3's grittyness were even exaggerated IMO.

Reminds me of that "Wii would like to play" ad campaign that Nintendo had when their console first released. It was cool with games like Wii Sports and Raving Rabbids but when Metroid Prime 3 came out, I didn't like it. It made the game seem like fun for the whole family when, obviously, it wasn't.

I like KB, too. I just wonder if its about the games or has it become all about him. He's like the Old Spice Guy. We love to see the commercials but when it comes to the product, we just don't know.

Granted I don't watch much TV anymore, but I haven't seen the Resistance 3 Kevin Butler commercial. I have seen the regular Resistance 3 commercial that shows off the atmosphere around 3-5 times now.

Also, they pay Kevin Butler and Sony doesn't release a first party game all the time, so they do need to do something with him. Yeah, they could use him in a commercial highlighting the PS3 and its features, but hasn't that been done to death by now? I can't remember if they did a commercial with him highlighting the recent price drop, so maybe they should've done something with that.
