For some reason I think that next weekend will have a really small drop for this movie. Anyone think it can push out over a 100 million next weekend based off the shootings and whatever else going on? Some may have also been worried that it was not going to be as good as the second one so they were just going to take their time seeing it. With great word of mouth that should change this weekend.

100 Million is not going to happen. But I don't see it dropping too much. Shootings have obviously affected this weekend.

LOL $100 Million is not happening.

expect a 40-50% drop.

It did $19.5M on Monday. That's a bigger 1st Monday than The Avenger's, but still ..school wasn't out at that time.

I said that & celebrated on boxofficeforums but was shot down a second later with the "school wasn't out then" reply...I felt so dumb...as it's truly not comparable at all due to that one fact!!

I'm kind of felling a sarcastic vibe from this post....

I don't see how school being out go greatly affect numbers that much.

Was this actually proven?

If it was then whatevs. I still don't think it'll do as good as Ryan is thinking.

yeah it's pretty much a set in stone trend. Weekdays in summer when schools out are much better than other times of the years...due to this weekend % rises are more tame though.

There are a lot of other logistics involved with school vs. no school. Even if parents work during the day, a family will be less inclined to go to the movies in the evening if there is school because of home work, after school activities, gotta get up early in morning etc...

If there is no school you have less obstacles and thus, even if parents work, you can take the kids out without worry of certain things.

Also on the new 2nd weekend poll, there is an option for "over $100 million (new record)". The thing is TA did $103,052,274 on it's second weekend. So even if TDKR did over $100mil (say, $102mil) it still would not be a new record.
