Can Disney beat Universal's record 2015 domestic gross - $2.445 billion?

It will fall short of tha... 4 13.33%

Finding Dory, Doctor Stra... 20 66.67%

It's going to be very cl... 6 20.00%

Total:30

With a production budget of only $7 million dollars Magic Mike turns a profit after only one day. Good news for Steven Soderbergh since his last movie Haywire was a small bomb at the box office making $31 million with a $23 million budget. People Like Us kinda fizzled at the box office by only making 1.4 million dollars on its first day still will make a profit eventually since it only had a $16 million dollar budget.

Grats to The Avengers for passing $600M and also passing Titanic's original unadjusted gross.A re-release in 10 years will place it above it's overall gross and maybe even Avatar's original gross.

It took Titanic 252 days in its original domestic run to pass $600 million it took The Avengers only 54 days to pass $600 thats almost 200 days earlier.  Avatar did it the fastest in 47 days but its re release kinda fizzled it only added $10,741,486 to its domestic total in 84 days.

I'm thinking that box office mojo is expecting The Dark Knight Rises to make over $600 million domestically they already added a category for fasted $550 million and fastest to $600 its blank so far since only three titles have qualified for both achievements so far.

@ chris hu

Prediction, tdkr will not beat the avengers.

Way too early to tell also TDKR should have stronger legs since it has less competion and should have a longer theater run.

:) that is just my prediction. Was the first one Rated R? Is this one?

Its PG-13 so was TDK its going to be a long time before a R rated movie comes close to making over $600 million dollars domestically the highest grossing domestic R rated movie is still The Passion of the Christ which made $370,782,930 in 2004.  The highest grossing R rated movie world wide is The Matrix Reloaded which made $742,128,461.

Sorry on my phone or I would have checked.

The Avengers was PG and the subject matter not as dark.

The Avengers is PG 13 also.  Batman is the most popular of a DC comic superheros plus Christopher Nolan is one of the most popualr directors of all time even if falls short of The Dark Knights domestic total somehow, I expect The Dark Knight Rises to make more money overseas then The Dark Knight.  Inception made most of its money overseas it made 64.6% of its total gross overseas.

The Amazing Spider-Man is off to a slow start overseas it got beat out by Ice Age 4 ouch. Ice Age 4 made $78 million The Amazing Spider-Man made $50.2 million. Also The Hunger games passed the original Spider-Man at the domestic box office. I doubt that The Avengers will sneak back into next weeks domestic top ten even if a few movies in front of it drop below it the three new movies opening next week are all guaranteed to make more then The Avengers and I can't see four movies ahead of it dropping below The Avengers in revenue.

Very successful weekend! Most making their "on paper" budget back or soon will, such as Brave.

That is what I like to see.

Looks like its going to be a while before Brave will make its money back.  I'm guessing it will make less money overall then Cars 2.  It hasn't opened in a lot of overseas market yet but it looks like it will have less overseas success then Madagascar 3 and Ice Age 4.  Ice Age 4 is already ahead by $51.2 million over Brave when it comes to overseas revenue.

I will be surprised....actually overseas loves racing and F-1 so It could be difficulty to catch Cars2. But decent word of mouth could help push Brave. I have not been on boxoffice to see how it is doing and where Brave has already been released so far.

All I know is I hated mater 2 and had a pretty good time with Brave. So like I said....word of mouth.

The overseas numbers for Brave only include the opening weekend so far so it will probably double its overseas numbers once this weekend numbers come in.  Also it will be more then a month before it will be released in a lot more markets.

Actually the second highest grossing animated movie overseas is Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (3) which made $690,113,112.  Ice Age 4 is off to a great start at $78 million on its opening week in limited markets it has a change to make more money overseas then the third movie and if it does good domestically it probably has a change to surpass Shrek 2 and become the second highest grossing animated movie in its orginal run.  The Lion King is now ahead of Shrek 2 because of its re release which added over $100 million to its total.  By the time Ice Age 4 is released in the US on July the 13th it will also have opened in almost all oversesas markets.
