Well unless there is a firm release date its pretty much a rumor and if its not happening soon I doubt it will happen since the movie is pretty close to being released on Blu-ray and DVD in a lot of markets.  Once a lot of torrent sites have decent quality copies of it releasing it in China will not make a lot of finacial sense especially since they only get about 30% percent of the total box office from there.  Also going on how Monsters Univeristy did there Frozen would only make a little over $30 million total there and I'm pretty sure that Disney has a lot of movies that are close to being released that they rather would release there instead of Frozen and with China's restrictive policy you have to be very selective.

It is normal in china for films to not make the cut for the year that they are released in, and then get delayed to the next year. That is what happened to the Hobbit and Skyfall last year. In fact Despicable Me 2 is releasing in a few days even though it was released in America in July.

But would frozen be part of last yeas select few for china or could they get it this year?

I was very surprised by frozen! could it beat the poll?

No, it might win worldwide, but in NA, Catching Fire will win.

If China gets it would only add about $30 million and the other major market left is Japan which might add another $50 million but probably less since there is direct local animated competition in Japanese theaters.   The highest I can see it end up world wide for movies from 2013 is 5th behind Iron Man 3, DM2, Catching Fire and Hobbit 2.

Releasing Despicable Me 2 this year in China was a good move by Universal since Fast and Furious 7 got delayed until next year they have nothing better coming out this year.  They just need to be certain that Fast and Furious 7 and Jurrasic Park 4 will eventually run in China both of those should make a lot of money there.  Universal had a really good year in 2013 but without Fast and Furious 7 their numbers will be down a lot this year but should rebound a lot next year with Fast and Furious 7 and Jurrasic Park 4 both could gross over $800 million world wide.

Lone Survivor is the big winner this week, Hercules always looked bad.

Yeah, Hercules never had a chance over here.
I may give Enders game some money. There is an 1145 showing at the dollar show this morning.

My guess it that the one that will star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will do slightly better but I doubt that one will kill at the box office either.
