Forums - Gaming - A Look Back on Most Wanted, and Going Forward

So if you've been reading my Most Wanted articles every month (and even those views have gone down too...), you've noticed that I start off comparing how many votes have been cast compared to the previous month. Ever since I've started, I've been seeing a (mostly) downwards trend. Richard (TWRoO), the second writer in charge of the Most Wanted feature, started tallying every vote on a monthly basis, and I've done the same since I took over last November.

So let's take a look at each month shall we?

Aug 09 (2341 points)
Sep 09 (2875 points) 22.80% increase
Oct 09 (2888 points) 0.45% increase
Nov 09 (2775 points) -3.91% decrease
Dec 09 (2288 points) -17.55% decrease
Jan 10 (2562 points) 11.96% increase
Feb 10 (3011 points) 17.53% increase
Mar 10 (2395 points) -20.46% decrease
Apr 10 (2440 points) 1.88% increase
May 10 (3270 points) 34.02% increase
Jun 10 (2377 points) -27.31% decrease
Jul 10 (1486 points) -37.48% decrease
Aug 10 (1455 points) -2.09% decrease
Sep 10 (NA)

May 11 (1368 points) 4.59% increase
Jun 11 (1371 points) 0.22% increase
Jul 11 (1213 points) -11.52% decrease

Sep 11 (1078 points) 4.66% increase

*I take over the Most Wanted feature

The biggest hit to the voting population came in June and July of 2010, and its been slightly decreasing from that point to now. Just an interesting look on how things have gone here in the gamrConnect forums.

That said, if you want to vote in the October Edition and buck the trend, I wont stop you.

I like the voting treads, I find it annoying when we don't get an installment in a month, btw, when are we getting the analysis of Sept?

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

I'm around halfway done with it, so it should be up today or tomorrow. ^_^

It's kind of weird, espetially since may of 2010 had the all time highest number of points.

But it's a great feature regardless.

EDIT: Also, Guild Wars 2.

Was the unveiling of VGChartz 3.0 in June/July 2010? I forget...

EDIT: Oh yes, Guild Wars 2.

It was actually, now that you mention it. It was released in the time up to E3. Guess that might explain it then.

It's been a while since I've voted in those threads. Not that I don't like the feature, I guess that not thinking too much about what games I wanna buy in the near future is a way to blind me from the fact that I'll never get through my backlog.

Signature goes here!

Yep 2009 was Vgchartz most active year. It's been going downhill ever since. Although now it seems to have stabilized.
