My turd of a brother has a 360 only and has always bashed Nintendo (Wii) and more recently PS3 (both of which I own).

He posted on FB how he was very excited for Gears3 to launch and I commented that it looked good, but I was excited about BF3 and ZeldaSS.

We had some brotherly exchange and one comment got me thinking. He said that Gears3 was the most anticipated game of the year.

I said Bullshit, that Zelda will not only sell more, lifetime, but is also more anticipated as Zelda news (even a single bad pic) breaks the internet.

So my question to this wide-ranging group of gaming enthusiasts on VGC... what's your opinion on which is more anticipated?

If your asking which one I personally am anticipating more it would be Gears. But in general I don't know. What is more anticipated is a matter of perspective. Nobody I know plays wii so if you asked me I'd say Gears is more anticipated. I'm not even remotely interested in skyward sword, but I'm sure in other circles its a huge deal.

For me Skyward Sword is the more anticipated title. If you go by pre-orders Gears would be the more anticipated title.

Me Gears, on the internet I say also gears because it is a multiplayer game and people can't wait to play with their friends online and will no doubt offer their saturday night to play Gears. If it was a new Zelda on the Wii U it probably would have been more anticipated....It is difficult to not get excited when your favourite franchise jumps into a new generation..

I dunno, I mean, press is hyping Gears more, but there are never any news on Zelda, so I guess I'm not sure.

I would have to say Zelda. LOZ always sells millions and I have no doubt it will again this time round. Gears might actually outsell it but I think alot of people who are going to buy Gears aren't exactly excited. I have many friends and I myself who buys and plays Gears, fact is while I like the game it doesn't stand out to me. My friends all love the games as well but they don't really make or break a year.

Gears is a game you buy for your 360. Zelda is a game you buy a Wii for.Gears may sell some software but Zelda shifts hardware, gamers prefer Zelda in the long run. While both are great games and Gears is possibly going to sell more. Talk to a Gears fan about number 3 and they will be less enthusiastic then a Zelda fan about Skyward Sword!

Do you understand?, also all those millions of Wii fans who don't own X-Box or PS3 are almost guaranteed to be looking forward to Skyward Sword.

i like the cut of your jib Superchunk, but i believe you are dead wrong about Gears, i believe it is more anticipated and will sell more than Zelda. But i have Wii and no 360, so im more excited for SS myself. Doesnt mean im not pumped for Gears, liked the 2nd one, and i will be going to someone's house who has it??

Gears for me and in all honesty, mainly as Zelda will sell to a lot of people who don't actively follow their hobby online and with pre orders. The LTD figures would be largely dependabt upon how Gears 3 reviews as Zelda will seel regardless of scores it receives where as a sub 90 score for Gears would hurt sales imo.

That is not true, Zelda fans are often more nitpickers than anybody, and even a 93 could damage it. I know that with a 89 even I would think well before getting (even if in the end I would still get it)
