They mostly punished it for bugs. I hate when reviewers do that. A patch will fix most of the problems they listed.

Shipping a broken product deserves punishment, regardless of how good the game is otherwise

It's only because this isn't a big-name company that Edge is allowed to get away with fairly penalizing them for poor QA.

NO! every game deserves a 10... don't you get it! all games will be patched to a 10!!!

Of course some punishment but not much lol. I'd say pull one point for the amount of bugs that seem to be in Dead Islands, so a 7 game becomes 6, not 3.

Bugs and glitches punish the early adopters and that's not a good thing. Besides, there is no guarantee that the developer will iron out the bugs straight away.
