The rumor mill is currently in hyper-drive with news from the November 2011 edition of Xbox World magazine indicating that the successor to the almighty Xbox 360 console is currently in the works over at Microsoft, with a late 2013/early 2014 release date penciled in along with a slew of stellar first-party launch titles including third-person shooting title Gears of War 4 and racing simulator Forza 4.

Shady development sources close to the publication have revealed that a bunch of next-generation titles are currently in production at major publishers, with a retail release targeted for late 2013 or early 2014 – opening up the distinctly exciting possibility that the next wave of consoles will finally be announced at E3 2012. Exciting times! Check out the rumors below.

• ”The Next Xbox…or so we hear. Our sources from a number of developers tell us work is already underway on games intended for the next generation, with all mentioning on-shelf dates for late 2013 and early 2014.”
• ”And what of Xbox Next? Well, The Insider hears suits at Microsoft are already lining up the launch games – and they include two monsters: Gears of War 4 and Forza 5.”

I doubt very much either one will be there at launch, but if they were Xbox720 would be a day 1.

I could handle late 2013 as launch of the new gen consoles from Sony/MSFT.

My sig is gaining popularity....

Rumours have me believe Fable 4, Forza 5 and Gears of War 4 will all release in the launch year?

The thing is that Microsoft's suits obviously aren't in control of Gears, but Epic is.

i still see 2013 as less likely.

2014 is the golden yr for the launch for the to HD successors.

i see the next GEARS ip going multiplatform. if not PS wht ever then PC, and i'll be there.

Probably create some self-glorifying "I told you so" thread. Because, if I were wrong I'd hear about it.. so when I'm right the rest should hear about it.

Anyone could guess this and be right.
I mean Gears and Forza are some of the few exclusives on the 360.

We know Halo 4 is launching late 2012 so they wouldn't release a new Halo in 2013. They'd wait until 2014 and that would probably be on Xbox 720.

Gears 3 and Forza 3 come out this year. 2 years later seems like a high likely for the sequels.(but I doubt it'll be called Gears 4)

too bad can't attract me cause i don't play any of these series... =_=
