Perhaps one of the most benign promotions we've seen to purchase the 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle has resulted in consumers being able to get the $170 Gears of War 3 Epic Edition for free.

Toys R Us is currently running a promotion where purchasers of the 4GB Xbox 360 Kinect bundle for $299.99 can get ANY Xbox 360 game of their choice for free. However, the retailer did not put a limit on the value of the game nor did it rule out pre-orders. That means that the pre-order for the Gears of War 3 Epic Edition is free game. This is also good with the Gears of War 3 Limited Edition for $99.99

Unfortunately, Toys R Us does not have any other hot upcoming collector editions coming such as the one for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or Batman: Arkham City. However, there is the Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Collector's Edition for $99.99, Rocksmith at $79.99, uDraw Studio at $79.99 and more.

Last time they f'ed up like this they cancelled everyone's order who got around the obvious f-up. Of course they only intend on you getting a $60 game for free... so expect to have your order cancelled and forced to redo it with an appropriate game.

However... its probably worth the risk of forced exchange. :)
