Thought this would happen.

Microsoft are focusing on profits. They'll bundle older, popular games to make the console look inviting for first time buyers, they'll advertise the shit out of it pretty much every where.

Look at the Canada bundle. It's amazing. For Europe I kinda see a similar bundle being introduced for a really good price, maybe with a Forza game in there because it's Europe. Add this on to the Kinect bundles that WILL be arriving, Millions spent on advertising... And they should do really good.

I dunno if it'll be enough to beat PS3, but they'll certainly sell a whole lot.

I think the pricecut will come early next Year, possibly around the release time of Wii U... Would be a great thing for MS to do, really.

Edit: Thinking about it a tad further... Gears 3 will get a bundle, Modern Warfare 3 will get a bundle, Forza 4 will get a bundle, Halo Anniversary will likely be bundled with a couple of Halo games for a collection thing.

There could end up being like 6/7 high profile bundles over the next few Months. So many great deals for people to pick from.

I don't think that's the case, not with Europe anyway. This years line up ... really isn't vastly different from last years, and Kinect hasn't been a huge hit in the majority of Europe.

In another article MS said they're spending a siginificant amount on advertising. I would say this in every Euro country (specific, targetted marketing), along with a price cut, will help boost sales YoY. But PS3 was a tough competitor there anyway, let alone with a price cut.


I agree kinect wasnt a huge hit in europe, and i think the fad is dying off here a little, people who loved it will obviously buy the games like dance central 2, but i dont think gears and forza are really, system sellers, well maybe gears as theres no deneying it will be a big seller, but moslty to people who already own 360's and are a a fan of the franchise, where the guy also mentioned battlefield fifa and COD, well there just all multiplat and fifa (i think correct me if im wrong) sells better on the ps3, they will definitelly get more sales on the fps games but those games will be just as much system sellers as the ps3 version, I do hope for them they are going to announce something at tokyo game show next month otherwise I don't see them taking number one spot

Well, they're not going to say anything different. Sony and Microsoft don't take the dumb route Nintendo does of pre announcing price cuts .

Hmmmm.

Well Sony and Nintendo have had alot of price cuts without Microsoft budging.

Sony has had 3 between Microsofts last one and now. Nintendo 2. The 360 has stayed competitive without the need to follow suit.

However £199 PS3 will be hard to beat in EU.

Forza 4 has had a massive increase in attention in EU largely due to Top Gear being big in Germany, France, Spain and Of course the UK. Also the fact that GT5 disappointed across EU reviewers and forums. So Forza 4 does have a chance to sell some consoles this time.

Forza 4 will be appearing on Top Gear itself around its release. Free advertising to over 39 million viewers World Wide. Not bad.

Can they do it without a price cut?

Only if Forza 4 helps in EU where Sim Racers are a strong seller.

And Kinect 2nd wave helps sales to.

By the By. When is Microsoft gonna do another price drop. It's been over 2 years.

Wrong, very wrong, Since e3 they've only been about WW, and there have been about 6 interviews this week talking aobut being #1 in Europe.

HIGHLY doubt they'll be #1 in Europe.
How much of a lead does the PS3 have over the 360 this year in Europe? It a 1-million lead.......
The only way it can possible beat it the PS3 is with a price cut which is definitely happening sometime this year.
