Forums - Nintendo - is a new 3DS Redesign really that necessary?

"new redesign" sounds like there was a redesign already, and that would be kinda early.
A redesign may be necessary if the projected sales for the 3DS were way (double or more) above what it actually achieved so far. Then there might be a realization that, while in the current form, the 3DS can be successful, to achieve the company vision (presumably success of DS proportions), "drastic" action has to be taken now.

GAMES GAMES AND GAMES!!! AND THEY ARE COMING!!!!!

Switch!!!

Here's the thing: In it's current state, the 3DS failed to sell at $250 a pop. Nintendo had to cut the price by roughly 33% and is possibly losing money in the process (depending on who you believe). If there was a redesign, what do yo think it would be? Additional features so that Nintendo can lose even more money or be forced to raise the price back to where it was tanking before? Or cut some features to make it more cost effective (and if so, what could they possibly cut?)?

This talk of a redesign makes absolutely no sense to me and my penis.

well...a redesign did wonders for the original ds so....
(Though maybe not for another year or so)

Yeah!

With better battery and some small changes in design, ok.

But not adding 2nd stick and removing 3D feature. That would split the 3DS market.

They could make it oval or curvey or something, so as to not look like a DS from the outside.

Removing 3D could be possible it doesnt split the market as there will never be 3D that is a gameplay mechanic. But even then i dont think they could release it any cheaper, unless there prepared to make a loss on a redesigned one as well, which wouldnt make much sense.

Im still surprised they cut price before they released any games, cos now there losing money faster than ever selling units at a loss and still not making back on software as theres still nothing worth getting.

It's not necessary but a lot of people are waiting for the 3DS-Lite. I don't know why they don't like the current 3DS. Seems fine to me.

the way i see is if there is a new model it will have a better 3D screen that you can move around and hold sideways as well as horizontally and improved battery life. but what it really needs now is more games and they are coming as others have said here
