Vita is missing a NA and Europe holiday launch.....

Am I the only person who sees thats brand suicide when your ALLREADY behind the copetition?!?!?!?!

the wii launched a full year after the 360...

please provide reasoning then

Wii had a radical new approach to gaming. Vita looks to be the same old PSP vs DS specs all over again

Wii had a price advantage. Vita does not

Wii appealed to casuals, a crowd more vast then the core market. Vita caters to the core more then anything.

my point was merely that to just say this

"Vita is missing a NA and Europe holiday launch....."

is nonsensical as other platforms have been very successful against competing platforms that launched earlier...

"Wii had a radical new approach to gaming. Vita looks to be the same old PSP vs DS specs all over again"

i don't know about you but from what i've seen so far the vita seems to be bringing more new approaches to gaming than i've seen on the 3ds

"Wii had a price advantage. Vita does not"

true

"Wii appealed to casuals, a crowd more vast then the core market. Vita caters to the core more then anything."

in terms of price yes, in terms of games we'll see

...btw i'm not saying that i believe for certain that the vita will be more successful just that the difference in launch dates by itself doesn't necessarily determine who the victor will be

misinformation begets bad logic.

The vita has several new innovations, none clearly as big as the wii did, but big innovations nonetheless.

3G will enable web calls, so at home or hotspots, you'll be able to receive and make free calls. The future is free web calling. Check out a software called line2. I know dozens of people who changed their 100$/month calling plan to a 40$ calling plan with a 10$ line 2 subscription. Beyond that, it offers a near limitless possibility for expanded market stuff like AR hotspots. Everything you can do on an iphone or android, you'll be able to do on vita. This doesn't sell systems, necessarily, but it keeps me from having to buy an iphone just for the 99 cent games that I want to play.

Back touchscreen. Literally, there is no more interesting control style, imo, than this feature. This touchscreen will allow for easy camera manipulation, and lots of other interesting capabilities that I can only begin to imagine.

I think it both caters to the expanded and the core, and throws in something that nobody else has. Honestly, this feels like a nintendo kind of hardware, which the 3ds really isn't.

In 2006, after the DS's success was unquestionable, EA finally started to shift resources away from the struggling PSP and EA's CEO Said ...

"There's no doubt that EA has historically bet more on PSP. I think we were excited by the technology, but the consumers have proven that actually what they want is fun. We must never forget that what we need to focus on is fun and so EA is putting more effort behind DS games - and creative ones that really take advantage of the hardware."

That’s right EA never forget!

:P

When Sony was on top I could understand why people bet on them but they seem to bet on them even when they are the underdog as well :P

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

Though it gets much flack around here I must say I tend to agree. The 360's software lead is pretty much because of XBL domination in America and UK IMO. If PSV can mimic it that will be it's biggest boon. EA's support with titles like Madden, FIFA, Battlefield will help greatly to cementing this effect especially seeing how effective was on PSP which wasn't all that suited to it and not very network driven till the end of its life. Especially onsidering that EA's yearly titles still saw decent(.6-.7 million) sales even as the PSP software market collapsed. I also see handhelds increase in interest in the west as population and thus public transportation use does as well That is where I saw PSPs on people on the bus.

hm, if EA focuses on the PSV instead of the 3DS, PSV will have something to attack the 3DS

but it's almost impossible than EA does not support 3DS, I mean it's EA... they always put their games on many sytems, and they sell good on Nintendo systems

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I think Vita's similarity to smartphones and price actually will hurt it... however, the cheaper (now) 3DS with typical IPs will allow it to coincide and continue the separation between game consoles and more computer like devices.

I know I'd consed a 3DS over a Vita for my kids any day.

...and most people old enough to want a $250 handheld will have or also want a smartphone.... indirect competition.

EA will shift support to the 3DS around January 2013 then.

The vita similar to a smart phone? Thar gigantic thing? Guts seriously try holding it and then tell me that it is similar in anyway. That thing is huge, I actually tried it at a games convention in Dubai and I must say that the large design sony made for the vita may alone kill the product. It's no handheld that is portable(might be why they dropped the brand "psp"). I'm questioning how long the battery will last with the overrated feature of 3G.

3G is overrated?
