Forums - General - What is the current stereotype of British people?

My english mate refuses to play anything at 5gmt because of his usual 5 o'clock tea...that is so stereotypically english. ^^

Only negative thing I've perceived really is the football hooliganism, just cant understand the violence for sport. That's no reason to mug people.

Women wear funny hats and a place for dark wizards?

Germans - No sense of humour. Women have massive breasts. Women dont shave (anywhere !!!). Worst trait - Keep picking fights with the rest of the world. Redeeming feature - Keep losing fights with rest of the world. Good at sports. Known for being ruthlessly efficient. Famous Export - Mercedes Benz and Large Sausages. Mother = Mein Mutti.

Oh how I wish that stereotype was actually true...

What I found really interesting btw. is that "bad teeth" seems to be the most common stereotype about Brits by far, yet I cannot remember even having heard that stereotype before reading this thread.

It's not only stereotypes, but here's what comes to mind when I think of Britain:

  • Fantastic humour/comedy
  • Ugly women (don't know if it's actually true, that's just a stereotype I've heard a couple of times)
  • Binge-drinking
  • Best broadcasting network in the whole world (BBC)
  • Surveillance cameras everywhere
  • Hooligans, many aggressive/violent/anti-social young people
  • Lots of great music

Good Music,
Bad Teeth,
Massive alchahol drinkers, (when they came over to the US when hatton was fighting, the Bars was running out of Beer!!!!!!!)
Soccer,
Hooliganism,
Sarcasm,
Stealthy.

Well on a more positive note....

We gave the world some of the best musicians and song writers of all time. For our population nobody gets near.
We gave the world some of the best authors, poets and playwrites of all time. For our population nobody gets near.
We invented the worlds most played and watched sport.
We are responsible for countless discoveries, important innovations and important inventions.

Lets not mention the empire or go near WW1 and WW2... never goes well.

As far as authors, poets and playwrights go, Ireland has made an huge contribution to world literature for such a tiny population. So I would dispute that point.

Plenty of things to be proud of if you're British. Stereotypes aside, my irk with Britain would actually be with the British media, which can be very bias.

Hate Brits, always did. We call them "melkobrytty", which roughly translates "small Brits" (opposite to "Great Britain", since... you know, it's not that great anymore). They like very small but immensely loud barking dog, attached to huge armored vehicle with "U.S.A" letters written on it's side, though the dog behaves like it is the vehicle attached to it. On second thought I don't really hate them, I hate Jews, since half of my relatives are Jewish it's really easy for me to hate them. But still don't like Brits. Though the only couple of British I happen to know personally are actually decent people, still don't like them. But I adore that Poirot TV series with David Suchet (who's British AND Jewish = evil). All in all, it's complicated.

Lol.  Am I the only one who read this using a very ominous and melodramatic Russian accent?

I read it in Omega Red's voice.....

Out of that list you took offense to being jealous of the US?

Depends who you ask, their is ofcourse stuff that can get you banned (guess that accounts for every country)...

Overall I hear the most 'Grumpy and boring'..

Grumpy because every British wakes up full with energy to have a great time at the beach but one feet outside and they remember that they live in the UK where you already may be happy that it doesn't rain for a day and the temperature reach +20 degrees so he goes back in home complaining while drinking his tea and watching some BBC show full with actors who are playing stereotypes of an other country that he already saw a hundred of times. Going out means getting some fish ships and have a fight because someone said something wrong about your team! Overall British are grumpy because of the to cold summers and the to warm winters (think Gordon Ramsay)

Boring because UK(britain) gets associated with boring stuff, drinking Tea, Museums, Buckinham Palace, Big Ben, Oxford while the rest of the world wants hot weather, beaches and women who wear whole day their swimsuit...

Not that I agree ofcourse but their is probably some truth in it people being grumpy during the winter is a worldwide phenomenon.

You honestly need to re-check the British weather forecast.

Where I live, during the summer months the temperature averages in the mid twenties, it doesn't rain very often and during winter there is normally 1-3 snow days.

I love the British climate, it has the right balance of sun, rain and snow.

Where do you live? in birmingham wew have rain half the summer, we do get highs of 27 on the hottest day of the year (if were lucky) and it snows for about 3-4 weeks in winter

Wait... does this mean im not human?
