but...but...I thought that was just stupid wording! I didn;'t know you could play Cross platform on Xbox....I know Sony has PSN on the PS3 and PSP, as well as Steam integration and Dust integration, but what does Xbox have? what can you play with Xbox on PC? |
Again, cross platform experience! Not play, experience. What he's trying to say here is that the platforms connected by Xbox Live are more coherent and offer a better experience because of it. With PSN, the integration on the PSP is much more limited than it is on the PS3, and the Steam integration is only in one game so far (with Dust integration not even in the hands of consumers yet). Whereas on Xbox Live, the experience is more coherent regardless of the whether you're on an Xbox or WP7.

Simply saying one service is more popular is sort of a debatable topic. While certain games (such as CoD) have more people on at a time on Xbox Live versus PSN, the total number of PSN accounts blows Xbox Live away. There are 77 million PSN accounts, and only 35 million Xbox Live (Gold and Silver) accounts. Unfortunately, there isn't really enough data to conclusively determine whether one system's online service is more popular (for all we know, the total number of psn users playing online at any given time might be 50% higher than 360 users online across all games) |
Yea cause all 77 million of those accounts are active and there all made by 77 million different people. Those 35 million accounts are active memebers on live. I highly doubt there is 35 million active players online.

used properly, headsets actually allow you to coordinate with your team and play better. Got a trash talker.....mute them. Done. You dont like the party system or cross game chat.....but many do. and its there. PSN Accessibility is not on par with LIVE, I dont know where u got that from.

whoa there. Dust isnt out yet and portal 2 is one game......and its steam integration is something ps3 gamers really dont care about.
360 actually started this in 2007 with games like Shadowrun. Too bad it didnt pan out since the PC gamers had an advantage over controller based gamers. What Sony is doing will turn out exactly the same.........ps3/pc is a buzz word. Its something that wont end up to much in the end.

So its an issue of money? Nevermind that theres always sales on Live subscriptions, you can find one for $40 if you know where to look. Guess its a question you have to ask yourself.....are you a gamer that pays for the best or are you a gamer that coasts on sub standard services for a lesser cost? The question I ask is: Does Live have more features then PSN? The answer is yes, regardless of cost. Thats all I need to know to make my choice as to which service I play online. |
OK, so if we grant this point, ignoring the effort of going out and finding those sales, we get:
"...the PS3 is currently $249 and the 360 is $299. On top of that, you will be paying $40 per year for Xbox Live. if you have the console for 5 years, you are paying $499 for the Xbox 360, and still just $249 for the PS3."
I guess paying for Live makes you naturally defensive of doing so, and you'd think about all the "value" of having the best service, even if you hardly ever use the things that Live has an advantage over PSN in. (I believe you can still organize chat groups in ways you can't on PSN?) And you'd sneer at the fools enjoying their "bad" online experience just because they don't want to pay what you pay.
Frankly, if I was going to pay for a console service, it would be PSN+ hands down. Tons of "free" games and DLC, need I say more?

Woah, just one second. How do you know with 100% certainty that those 35 million accounts are active. You're telling me that nobody out there has multiple Silver accounts, or a Silver and a Gold account? I know it sounds stupid, but I betcha it exists. Hell, I'd betcha there are even people out there that have 2 gold accounts. Why? I have absolutely no clue, but I'd say the odds are pretty good.

Wait, over 50 million Xboxes and only 35 million accounts?
Not sure how that works.

http://gizmofusion.com/2011/08/xbox-live-has-reached-35-million-subscribers/
Did you ever think it has something to do with Xbox Live Gold (the only one that would actually be worth getting, a Silver is pretty much worthless in my opinion) costing $40-$50 per year?
Regardless of that, there is something else that might surprise you even more. When I made my Microsoft Zune account, I did not own an Xbox 360, nor do I own an Xbox 360 now. This account, however, is technically considered an Xbox Live Silver account with Zune Pass on it. This would indicate that you also have zune pass subscribers who don't even have an Xbox 360, yet have a Silver account.
Plus, you act as if it is so weird for Xbox to have only 35 million accounts with 50 million Xbox's. There are 121.4 million PS3s and PSPs out there. I can guarantee you the number of unique owners (number of people who own one or the other or both) is more than 77 million.
