Forums - Microsoft - MGS4 CONFIRMED to be coming to the Xbox 360 a year later (gametrailers)

Gamers will wait for the game on the console they already have. Imagine all the potential PS3 sales lost, imagine everyone who will wait it out for the extra content on the 360 version and better online.

The problem with hype is the longer something is hyped the more negative the effect is tends to be rather than positive. MGS4 has been a beaten horse for so long you'll be damn lucky to get anyone outside of Europe to buy the game in droves.

If this is true, we all know Microsoft paid BIG for it. They know 360 is doomed, so this is a desperate last act, and they have the funds.

One week of sales which are slightly higher for the PS3 and the 360 is suddenly doomed. Funny how that works.

Anyone else thinking of Lindsay Lohan's song "rumors" now? That was pre-cocaine addiction Lindsay, remember the days?

I'm tired of rumors startin, I'm sick of being followed.

I disagree with you GGE. We all knew that VF5 was coming to the 360 yet it failed to sell 1/4 of the amount of the PS3 version, and I do think that it may be ported, but only if it doesn't sell like a million in a week or two. But I could be wrong, I'm no psychic.

the 360 version may indeed not sell more, but the possibility of one will be more than enough to hinder any success the PS3 version could achieve.

On another thought...

Even an acclaimed game like Bioshock was limited in its sales by its approach towards the FPS genre, it simply didn't appeal to as many as a game like Halo did. No matter how good MGS4 is don't think a franchise which barely sold a million with it last installment (MGS3) can break records with the fourth.

I have a feeling we'll be somewhat dissapointed with MGS4's reception.

I think we may be disappointed in MGS4 as a game, but it will still sell well, much like Halo, where the game wasn't necessarily better or new or anything, but still sell well. I call it the "halo" effect.

Ah but Halo had a track record of selling well, MGS doesn't, its too niche without the online play that made Halo the beast it was.

Why will 360 users stop crying and posting rumors about MGS4 and FFXIII being PS3's exclusives? Do you see PS3 users crying about Halo or Gears of War? Of course not.
So, all 360 users have 2 options: live without those games or buy a PS3 and play the most anticipated games for 2008: MGS4, FFXIII, GoW 3, LBP and KZ2. $399 is actually a small price to pay to play all those games ;)

let's see, $400 for a PS3, $60 for each of the games you mentioned ($60 * 5) = $300, so a total of $700. Heck yeah, I think $399 is a small price to pay to play all those games ;) You'll sell all that for $399? Just joking with ya.

Not just 5 games (but I would easily pay $400 to play MGS4 alone). PS3 has many great games and many more to come this year. I currently own 19 PS3 games

Optimistic predictions for 2008 (Feb 5 2008): Wii = 20M, PS3 = 14M, X360 = 9.5M

Seriously, it's so silly I can't believed it. Do you really think a huge group of X360 users dream about PS3 secretly because of MGS4? Most people own only one system and definitely this game will boost PS3 sales but shit, how much do you expect? Even Holo3 moved only limited amount of hardware. People decide about the system of choice not because of one game but line up in general.

One year will kill every hype. Every. It doesn't matter how good the game is. Take a look on VF5, Oblivion etc. People buy game when it's hot. This game will be hot on PS3.

MGS3:Substinence the re-release sold 1 million, MGS3:Snake Eater (the original game) sold 4+ million

MGS4 is getting similar hype and hooplah that MGS2 did, which ended up selling 7+ million, because people wanted to see what the hype was all about.
