HP.com may have a few left. I called them for my order, and the lady I dealt with said they sold 16,000 of the 16GB models last hour alone.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Hewlett Packard bought Palm, makers of WebOS around a year ago, hoping to merge their smartphones with their PC division to make tablet PCs. The result was the TouchPad. Unfortunately, the TouchPad is arguably one of the worst failures in years, and failed to sell much more than 1/10th of their initial shipment.

The only thing that comes close in recent years is the Kin. But that was based on an aquisition half the size, and I'm pretty sure it involved a much smaller initial shipment and launch campaign, too. The crazy part is that they kept promoting it right up until the brutal end, with ads, price drops, and a brand new 64GB model launching on the same day it got axed.

Everybody talks about how great webOS is, but nobody can seem to execute with it. Enjoy your cheap Touchpads, a lot of the reviews say it's the second best tablet out there.

"The worst part about these reviews is they are [subjective]--and their scores often depend on how drunk you got the media at a Street Fighter event."  — Mona Hamilton, Capcom Senior VP of Marketing

Hey last time I bought a fire sale item it was Zune. I bought my Zune for 99$ just to realize it's app store in Canada had been taken offline and I couldn't access anything but my MP3's legally. No movies no anything. I was left with a 99$ paper weight.

My question is, if I go out and buy one of these will I have access to the App store. Will I be able to get software for it and if I can will that software actually continue to work. Will I be able to connect to the internet with Wifi or will it be a useless paper weight like my Zune was.

I'm really cautious as I am unemployed, but would love a tablet. Thinking of buying one just don't wanna be screwed over again!

I would expect a pretty viable system for months (at least) and possibly years, but I would think that you would want to install Android as soon as it became possible
