Well MS gets some credit for Gears they helped fund it so that's another one for them. And you don't have to be so defensive of Sony man I really enjoy their games and buy every 1st party game on day 1. It doesn't change the fact this year Sony 1st party is not doing very well at all. Socom, LBP2, and now Infamous have all posted low numbers. The game is only 10 weeks old and only did 15k WW. That is poor. KZ3 even has only been a moderate success. Sony quite simply has too many 1st party games releasing and its splitting their demographic of hardcore supporters. Its hard to generate a ton of hype around them because theres so many different ones. Your about to see the same thing with Resistance. A poor performance, and you would've from Twisted Metal as well had it not been delayed. Uncharted will probably be the only game from Sony 1st party this year to outsell its predecessor by a good amount. Which again sucks because Sony's 1st party games have all ben excellent this year besides Socom.

Even still thats a poor performance, even if it is available online. If this game doesn't clear more than 2 million that's honestly sad. I don't know what it is about Sony but they just can't create mega selling franchises really outside of Gran Turismo. Which is unfortunate because Infamous really is a fantastic new IP.

Nothing suggests right now that it won't clear 2 million units. I also can't call it a "poor" performance without the expectations laid on the table. From where I'm sitting, the DD sales + the retail sales probably have it well over where inFAMOUS 1 was in the same time frame. Never mind the fact that somehow, Sony saw fit enough to acquire the studio behind the IP.

Also, you say "you don't know what it is about Sony" that they haven't created another mega-hit like GT. Last I checked, only Nintendo has created multiple mega hits like that. Microsoft hasn't created another Halo, have they? No. Reason: not every franchise can/will sell like that. Nintendo's appeal to a wider demographic than most PlayStation or Xbox IPs. Gran Turismo and Halo appeal to more people than most IPs. Just the way it is. Not a Sony-centric thing (and most of their IPs are successful anyway - so all else is irrelevant).

In short, inFAMOUS 2 is and will be fine.

1.5 if not 2m by the end of the yr!?

I agree, it's a good game, but I wouldn't consider it a must-have. Most critics seem to believe it wasn't as good as the first one was when it released, and apparently, consumers must feel the same.

As for Sony not creating mega franchises. I would consider 5m from Uncharted to be mega (only 1m less than Gears did)

who are these critics?? Infamous 2 is better than 1 in every way possible. More powers, more enemy variety, melee fighting is actually useful in this one, the enemies dont outrun walking backwards, better visuals, more fluid movement. Even Zeke is better this time out. Kuo presence alone makes it better

the wii is on life support and it still outsells the 360

So 3DS dominated, Playstation was second, Wii was strong in two territories. And the Box was strong in America! DS only downfall was Japan. Big news this week! I wonder if those sales numbers for the wii and PS3 will hold?

With Tales of Xillia and Monster Hunter HD coming on the PS3 it can only go up. Tales of Xillia should be quite the system seller considering it's the first real Tales of game on the PS3 and there's a bundle. Also there's the price cut. The Wii doesn't have much new softwares coming soon so I guess it might go down from here on out.

Xillia will be a system seller in that there is a limited edition bundle available for it, but other than that I can't imagine that it would have a significant boost for the PS3. Just because you say that it's the first real Tales of game for the PS3 doesn't mean all the Tales of fans haven't moved over to the PS3 by now. It's already had Vesperia (with extra content) and Graces (with extra content). Any Tales of fan who wanted to play them on the PS3 would surely have moved over by now.

It's also a good thing that Namco is lowering the price of the Tales of Xillia PS3 console bundle by 5,000 yen in accordance with the PS3 price drop. It was initially announced to be selling for 37,980 yen, but now it will sell for 32,980 yen (according to the ToX website). Otherwise it would have looked to be way overpriced (compared to a standard 160gb PS3)

They were still just ports.

And by the looks of it, Tales of Xillia will open with 400k-500k copies first week. Such sales ought to sale a fair amount of hardware.

I'm basing this off of it's Metacritic. Last time I checked, it was 4 points lower than the first one. That leads me to believe most critics believes it was a worse game than the first one. I'm guessing some consumers may feel the same.

I think the 360 is doing pretty good considering it's the only system this year to not have a price cut. It's also gone the longest out of all the systems without having a price cut. Image if the 360 had a $50-$100(preferably $100) price cut this year it would sell like crazy.

You know... GRAN TURISMO 5

Gran Turismo 5 (PS3)
Sony Computer Entertainment, Racer

And the new sales graph...

I hope that with the PS3 price cut, GT5 get a little boost.

Maybe more than a little boost, Platinum version is coming on 9 September.

PS3 hasn't had its price cut reflected in the data yet.

Ask me about being an elitist jerk

Time for hype

Huge boost for 3DS in Japan due to price drop. It just blows EMEAA and NA out of the water in sales. Makes me wonder why it had such a MASSIVE increase in Japan and not as much in NA and EMEAA. Was it because the price drop for NA and EMEAA happened later in the week? thats my guess.

Zumba Fitness, Reach have some good legs. I think reach will be close to or around 10 million by years end. Kinect seems to be selling really well only in NA. Its only selling small numbers in EMEAA, and basically almost nothing in Japan.

PS3 is going to have some big increases for next week. Im guessing WW sales will reach somewhere between 180,000, and 200,000. This is just my own speculation.
