SnapDragon S4 Will Eliminate Xbox 720 And PS4 ???

Traditional home consoles for gaming such as the Xbox 360 have long been the norm, but according to Qualcomm that will change in the future. They’ve recently said in a recent presentation, dedicated gaming consoles are heading to the exit door. They added that the good old fashion console “will no longer be needed” because gaming is destined to be all mobile, and their Snapdragon platform is helping to make that a reality along the way.

Snapdragon S4 with dual-core Krait CPUs (28nm) and the faster Adreno 225 GPU, which according to Qualcomm will exceed the current generation console 3D gaming experiences.

But will this eliminate console gaming in the future ????

Those are some very impressive graphics, and if it can exceed PS360 graphics in year or so, then that'll be very, very impressive. But, I don't feel that it'll replace a dedicated gaming console. It'll be nice, but the lack of a controller is a major downside. Plus, you don't have the major support of first-party developers like Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo do. Plus, I just don't feel that it'll there will be major funding for big triple-A titles on such a device. I think that unless Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo develops such a device, then I don't think that type of media for playing games will catch on with hardcore gamers. If anything, this might work to serve alongside consoles, but I don't think it'll replace them anytime soon.

that is true, those triple A titles are what drive gamers to certain consoles.
In order for this technology to be accept by gamers, it has to prove itself with great
content and leave the graphics technology for second. That is how Nintendo continues
to be on top, they have great and rich content with decent graphics..they don't need to prove
that their system can do 1000 fps or something crazy for people to buy their system. They offer
Mario, Zelda and Metroid and other Nintendo titles and gamers are hooked.

with the way prices are for tegra two phones right now i must ask... will the new phones also come with saws so you can trade in one of your limbs to afford them?

I still think people are exaggerating on the relation between handheld gaming on smartphones and tablets and home consoles.
Do people really expect for everyone to become a one type of gamer? The success of Wii and DS among casual gamers proves that even that type of consumer is divided between those who like it portable and those who like to play in front of a tv.

The only real importance about this S3, isn´t actually the chip itself, is the ability to play it on tv your mobile games- like the future Apple TV and Wii U.
Graphics are great but they don`t determine "winners" sales wise, games do and not all formats have the same kind of content.
MS, Sony and Nintendo offer not only different play formats, but they also have the titles the core and casual gamers love and that won`t change because of outside competition or interference.

Everyone is now using the Handheld/Home System idea LOL. By the time Wii U finally releases it won't be considered innovative because so many other people are doing the same thing or something similar.

Apple has Apple TV
These people have this SnapDragon Chip thing
Sony has PS3 + PSV combination
Nintendo will release Wii U after all of these are already available. If I were Nintendo I would actually reconsider the Wii U unless they are keeping something secret that Wii U can do special.

The problem with S3 is that the connection is made through wires. Wii U and Apple TV is wireless.
Still, i don`t think it`s that important if more companies do it - if Sony and MS do it with their machines, then it`s different.
I wonder if Nintendo will be utilizing this function in a game just to make it fun. Like throwing something at the tv and the other guy has to be quick to shoot it or stuff like that! :D

Definitely kicks the ass of systems we haven't seen yet. SONY and MS are domed.

Most powerful console is useless without support from EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Sony and/or Microsoft
