I don't actually believe that processing power really matters, in particular when it comes to graphics, but many of the best FPS developers have the complete opposite opinion (they think processing power mattes especially when it comes to graphics).  To add to your argument, a lot of people have ragged on the Wii's power not just for its weaker graphics capabilities but because it can't support more advance AI.

 Not having played any Next Gen Shooter like Call of Duty 4 I couldn't tell you what's so great about it. But from what I hear there are some great things in the AI.

 I am a Nintendo Fan Man but I do want a 360 if I can afford it I miss Silicon Knights. But I am just chime in on what the FPS junkies, that I know like about the other systems.

I think that if timesplitters is being developed for anything nextgen Free Radical should definitely include the Wii in their project. TS has never been about graphics, it's more of style savvy series then anything. What you said about some developers may hold some truth, however there's been some breakthroughs. For instance about two month ago crytek stated that their are currently "experimenting with the Wii". It could mean that they're testing it maybe to work on a upcoming game or to see if the Wii is worth their time. Whether or not the wii becomes the powerhouse of Fps as long as it has some decent ones (that actually sell) you won't see any complaints from me, and with the current sells on the Wii I'm certain developers won't either.
 "Exprimenting with the Wii" is probably just the excuse they use when peole catch them playing it in their breakroom.

 


Let's not forget! That the Wii more than likely will get a game from every developer who needs to make up some quick cash for their "main titles". If a game tanks on 360 or PS3 why worry when you got the Wii around?

 

Note: I don't FREE RADICAL thinks of the Wii like that though as a bunch of them are old RARE workers, and they hold some respect for the big "N".

And it only costs $200. And yes, that system also requires you to stick something to your head.

The one I have comes with a cap and didn't cost that much (over $100 though). (TrackIR 3) I'm sure TrackIR4 is probably more top of the line product than my older TIR3 or Wii remote.

You need another wii controller and another tracker decive which would mean another wii at $240.

Having a combination of head tracking and the wii controls could effectively

eliminate the slowness of turning in most console FPS. Not having to use the the

analog sticks could remove a big complaint that the genre has had on consoles

for years. As for requiring two remotes i'm still waiting for the chance to dual

wield two remotes John Woo style in a game.

Why would you need a second Wii?

And who doesn't have at least 2 wiimotes?

 If you watched that video you know there is no need for a second Wii.  I'm sure that this technology works great but I don't see how it has anything to do with the topic which is "Wii and the FPS Genre".  If you want to make another thread about TrackIR please feel free but I really don't see how an unused PC peripheral fits into a conversation about Wii FPS games.

For the record nobody is making claims of who did what first, and while head tracking has been around for years now it hasn't really been utilized in gaming other than a few things here or there which is why a console like the Wii that can integrate it into its games relatively cheaply is a great way to wet the apetite of the consumer and bring the technology into the mainstream concsiousness.
