I haven't looked into it, but I think you basically only need a PC to download and copy the homebrew stuff on an SD card and insert that one in your Wii. With a few easy steps you should then be able to play games from other regions. The basic principle of overriding region coding is always the same: When the console checks the region of the game (which only happens once, when the game is booted up), something tricks the console into believing that it's starting a game of the appropriate region, but instead a game of a foreign region will be loaded. |
I'm not too into the home brew situation but a friend of mine told me it was easier to buy an external hard drive and enclosure to mess with the Wii region as there is a chance of some problems to do it other ways. Didn't cost me much anyways.

Rip all said DVD's on PC, burn to Verbatim DVDs, problem solved.
If your DVD drive in the PC doesn't read them at all however, try changing its region to Europe (then, back again - you have 5 changes in all)
Im surprised they arent considering bringing it to NA. Considering their sensitivity over the Ambassador program and 3DS price drop, I would have thought it would have been a pretty easy and inexpensive enterprise to bring the game to NA and get some goodwill from their hardcore gamers. Clearly they are aware that fans want this game with their 'wait and see' response.

Films ripped with a good program, a-la IMGburn, should burn on a usual Verbatim DVD-R. Burn one or two to test, not all at once.
Given that your DVD is ancient, use DVD-R, NOT DVD+R. In a shop, you can easily distinguish them from afar by the colour of the boxes. -R is usually orange, and +R is purple. An authentic Verbatim DVD-R has the media code MCC03RG20 if I remember correctly (random companies sometimes fake discs!), which you can see on the right table when burning a disc in IMGburn or in media info in Nero...
Ah, and another tip - grab a box that mentions AZO dye on the cover. Like this:
you can see it on the bottom left. It's a good media for pretty much anything.
Wasnt there rumor from Operation R, that NINTENDO had already began the NA localization for Xeno and TLS? Im almost certain NA will get it.. im not homebrewing anything.
Heavenly_King said: NO. We have to admit it, if a company wants to do crap* with a franchise they own; it doesn't matter how many ranting fans could make, they will still make the crap* they want. *Crap: Something you think is bad for the company, but according to the company´s agenda it is good. I bet they are not releasing the game in US because they will most probably make an HD port with "trophievements", for the WiiU and will sell it for 60 bucks. US user will buy the new console at launch, and will buy the game because they couldn't play it before. I think they are going to do this in order to assure a great start for the WiiU in the US; a country in which Xbox is king. And they are not doing this in Europe or Japan because, because, even though the PS3 is King there, the difference in sales is not so big. |
These machines may have been outselling the Wii in these regions in recent quarters, but they still have quite a way to go before they overtake the Wii overall.

You can always remove the home brew.

Or Nintendo will remove it for you if you choose to firmware update after that point, though i seriously doubt any more firmware updates are in the pipe for the console
Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
