With Final Fantasy Versus XIII a no-show at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, what games will Square Enix bring to its booth?

During an interview in this week’s Dengeki PlayStation, Testuya Nomura revealed the company’s plans for playable versions of Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Type-0, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, and Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy at the Tokyo Game Show. The latter two titles are playable by the public for the first time.

Square will also have an Open Megatheater, showcasing the latest game trailers from their lineup. Nomura said that they’d like to get the footage from the theater online as soon as possible. They managed to do this last year.

Regarding Kingdom Hearts 3D, Nomura they’re aiming for the quality of a console game. Everything shown in the game’s trailers has been realized in-game, including Sora’s wall jumping. The game will be the flashiest entry in the series yet, Nomura promised. Development has just reached a high point, and while Nomura couldn’t pinpoint a release, it sounds like he’s hoping to release it by early 2012.

Nomura also addressed the future of the Kingdom Hearts series. As part of the franchise’s 10th anniversary, which is next year, they’re planning some sort of “HD technical test” for the series. Nomura admits it’s currently hard for new players to get into the series. Square is currently investigating how it could better introduce the series to new players.

So... What happened to Kingdom Hearts 3?

hmm hd kh 1 & 2 could be nice.

and kh 1.5 (chain of memories) ..for such a long waiting square should give us at least 3 hd game rather than 2 lol

I really hope they release this on the 360 because that would make me a very happy camper.

I'd buy a redo of KH1/2 in HD, as I've never purchased them before and I know my kids would be into it as well.

if it is on the ps3 i'd expect it to be on the 360 as well.  FFXIII was on the 360 and frankly, 3rd parties would be very very stupid not to go multi-plat.  so seeing as this is square i give the odds to be 50/50...

Kingdom Hearts 3D is their 3DS game. Go read the article carefully...they are stating that it is technically an "HD Technical Test" but 3DS is not going to give us a true HD Kingdom Hearts and nothing here hints at a PS3/X360 offering. Don`t get yourselves too excited about a console version just yet people.

To me, the use of "also addressed" means he changed topics from the 3DS game to hinting at some other game or more specifically an “HD technical test”.
