Forums - Nintendo - Why Wii U???

Is this because of 3DS?

What will happen to Wii U      http://www.conceivablytech.com/8684/business/is-nintendo-reconsidering-the-wii-u

They are probably second guessing just about every move they planed to make right now, it's hard to say what the end result will be, but atleast it finally looks like they'll be a this gen zelda

I don't really care much about a tablet screen controller nor do I see its potential so i would not mind if Nintendo rethinks or remake their next home console.

Personally I don't think Nintendo is reconsidering WiiU nor should they.

However they may be reconsidering price point and power. Nintendo was cocky and thought that all those new consumers that WIi and DS garnered would upgrade when 3DS came out. But they were wrong, they also thought with WiiU that yet again they could play the weaker console releasing something that won't be as powerful as PS4 and 720. Nintendo themselves said the console will be expensive.

So what do I think, Nintendo is probably going back to its developers and saying "We need more power and a cheaper price tag" I think Nintendo may consider launching WiiU at a loss, they might also be adjusting the hardware to see how cheap they can go so that they can atain a cheaper price tag.

All in all I don't think Nintendo will drop the controller and hope they don't. I want a WiiU and so do millions of other fans I hope Nintendo doesn't compromise and make cuts.

They can't drop controler - they would lose face after totting it as biggest innovation in gaming since Wii before whole world.

Problem for the Wii U is the name... as for the 3DS.

For 3DS, the normal joe think it's a DS with 3D, not that it's a new gen totally different handheld. The result was people were unconvience to pay 250$ for a DS with 3D screen when they can get the regular one cheaper.

For the WiiU people will think it's a wii HD with a tablet and then won't be convince also to change because of the higher price tag.

But we must first concentrate ourselves on the way to entertain people, for video games to live. Else, it's a world where sales representative will win, which has as effect to kill creativity. I want to say to the creators all around the world:"Courage, Dare!". Shigeru Miyamoto.

If Nintendo arent showing the WiiU then Sony are gonna own GamesCon with the Vita.

Some sort of redesign or spec change wouldnt surprise me, its not like they showed anything but tech demos at E3 the console was clearly extremely early in development.

Some things i didnt think were thought through very well, like you cant design a game that uses the controller as a second screen, if your using the controller for remoteplay while someone else watches the tele, there mutually exclusive features.

Nintendo wants the public to focus on the 3DS right now.

They will show the Wii U again next year, when they have a bunch of first- and third party games to show.

Besides, the article is illogical and badly written.

Doubt it. Nintendo always just phones it in at Gamescom, so there's no reason, in their mind, to exert themselves past demos of Skyward Sword, Kirby, and the big 3DS games

It might not be the worst idea in the world to fine-tune the direction of the Wii U slightly, but i would think they're reasonably committed at this point. Diverting resources back into Wii development to extend the console's lifespan would still lead to a vast Wii drought in 2012 one way or another, so they're stuck putting something out.
