Is there a belief that the bulk of this site is hanging on every word that Pachter has to say? No only are there threads with Pachter, but numerous news feed on here have Pachter in the headlines, and now this sites video podcast has Pachter chiming in with his opinion regarding the 3DS price drop.
What is the story here?
I dunno I myself think Pachter is well lets say this politely not in touch with the industry. He's wrong more then he is right and I call him on it all the time here on VGChartz. Only reason I stopped is because my TV broke and the audio on my PC did as well. So I can't actually watch his ramblings to disagree with them!
As for VGChartz giving him the lime light, I think thats a bad move as many users on VGChartz despise the guy and his credability as a gaming analyst is shot. I wish I could hear his latest stuff, I'm sure I'd get a good laugh out of it.
As for your thing about users liking him, I haven't really seen much of that. Alot of users hate his guts especially Nintendo fans who have seen him outting their favorite company for a long time. His whole Nintendo is doomed thing doesn't win him any bonus points on the Nintendo boards.
However I can see alittle why VGChartz would post him on the site. I mean despite all the crap he spews and the hatred of the user base he is a widely respected analyst. He gets paid a crap load and despite not having the best track record their are a ton of people who still listen to his advice. Maybe VGChartz thinks having him on the site will attract more users and traffic.
Heck I think I'd be a better analyst then Michael and I have no buisness and stock related experiance.

pachter is a pretty good analyst
gamers don't like him as he is very business minded why doesn't go well with them,though he is good at what happens in the industry as a business not a gamer

I dunno he said DS and Wii were going to fail and advised people not to invest. Then the whole time rather then admitting he was wrong he kept saying that WiiHD was coming and that Nintendo was failing yet again. Of course if you say Nintendo will fail and keep saying that every week for the rest of your life, your bound to be right sooner or later at least for awhile.
Michael does say some interesting things and he definatly knows abit about the industry. But he's no super man he doesn't know anything the average gamer couldn't tell you. Have you watched Pach Attack I could answer half if not almost all of those questions and I am not a high paid analyst.
In the end I don't think we should give him anymore coverage then any other industry in sider.

ninty should have done the latter one like pachter predicted and though ninty was a smart business company but ninty took the first path
