Forums - Nintendo - Concern for 3DS.

It seems to me the constant predictions of 3DS dying and Nintendo losing the third party support they strived to attain for it are really popping up in a frenzy.  I still intend to get myself one when it drops the price, but hopefully it won't die too prematurely before that.  Yes, they are in a slump right now, but still some actions have been taken to get the 3DS out of its slump.  Not just the release of OCARINA OF TIME 3D, but the releases of TALES OF THE ABYSS 3D, and to a lesser extent STAR FOX 64 3D, all gave the handheld considerable boosts in Japan, and hopefully this will mean a continual buildup of momentum.

I really wanna avoid making this topic a "3DS is doomed" topic, but does anyone here think 3DS still has a chance to overcome the predicament it is currently in?  Or will the PS Vita be the thing that kills it?

Even now, with all of this doom and gloom, I have no doubt in my mind that the 3DS will be a massive success. There's just too much potential. I say that next year this time, we'll look back at this period and laugh at how cynical we've been.

Only Nintendo has the power to kill the 3DS. if you trust them, you will have nothing to worry about.

Oh I absolutely do trust them when it comes to giving effort to keep their system's momentum going.  As others have mentioned, the price cut is a step in the right direction, and as of now 3DS is topping the hardware charts in Japan... at least from the reports that I've seen recently.  I expect it to drop a bit in lieu of the price cut announcement, but it should skyrocket again by the time the cheaper 3DS comes around.

Hopefully Nintendo can still maintain its third party relationships, too.  There were quite a bit of promising games that really caught my attention on the handheld that look promising.  E.G.:  RE: Revelations, Metal Gear Solid 3DS, Tales of the Abyss 3D (that's still coming to America, isn't it?), Kingdom Hearts 3D... the list goes on and on.

I hope you're right.

Once Mario Kart and Super Mario release, sales will be fine.

Predictions for Nintendo NX and Mobile

it will be just fine. Nintendo should learn from this and not rely on 3rd parties at launch. Wii U should have something big from Nintendo themselves. Hopefully Pikmin 3 and the new IP will do the job for the fans. i would buy it just for Pikmin 3.

Well I hope it also means that 3rd party publishers will still stay on for 3DS, and that, even if they don't rely on them for the launch at Wii U, I'd still like to see a worthwhile WiiU 3rd party title in the first weeks of the hardware's release.
