It was quite popular, just not in the US and UK. Lots of companies made them, I used to have one from Phillips since I lived in the Netherlands back then. Quite a different approach then nowadays, 1 platform with many manufacturers, sort of like a dvd player.

-Playstation 2 Slim x3 (My mom bought one new, the power connector went bad but we made it last to the end of the gen. Then I bought a used one for my brothers last year and a used one for myslef last month since my backwards compatible ps3 broke T_T)

-Gameboy Advance + GBA SP x3 (My mom bought a new GBA, but that required lots of batteries so she bought 3 GBA SP's off some guy for $50.... but they were new tho, so i'm guessing he stole them somehow)

-Nintendo Wii (I bought it new)

-PS3 + PS3 Slim x2 (I bought an 80GB Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle, then I moved out and my mom bought a new slim for my brothers. My old PS3 broke on New Years day >_

When it comes to Consoles, SONY has been my only brand i have bought. For handhelds its Nintendo.

Tho the only platforms i have bought have been a PS3, Gameboy SP. But i have been given a Gameboy orignal, several gameboy colours, gameboy advance and a PS1 and PS2 and Gamecube.
