I woke up yesterday afternoon (work nights) to my Wife and Son explaining to me that there is something wrong with the PS3.

So I go to turn it  and it would come on with a green light, beep beep beep, go red and would not turn on.

Did it a few times and knew the PS3 was broke, did a search online for Red Blinking Lights ad saw some guy on youtube take it apart, heat gun it, and add new compound.

Did the same thing to my 60gig and my friend's 80gig. Sadly it doesn't last long. My suggestion to you, get your saves off it and pawn that bitch in a different city.

Yea, a reflow will only last, at max, a month or so. The only way to fix it permanently is to have it "reballed." That's where they clean off the old solder and actually use lead solder, which is more resilient against high temps. That's the main reason many older game systems still work is they contained lead solder. Unfortunately, governments decided to fuck over consumers and outlaw it.

Your best bet would be to buy a new slim.

My Ps3 broke about 2 and a half month ago, I fixed it myself and it still lasts perfectly, oftenly used too.
