  • PS3 will likely continue to outsell the Wii marginally until the holiday kicks in. Both the PS3 and Wii will get price cuts. 
  • The PS3 will most likely outsell the Wii this holiday, but the Wii won't be too far behind due to its nature of being a holiday seller.

Gap at the of 2012: 5.0m in Wii's favor. 

  • The PS3 will get off strong because of the price cut coming off the holidays. It will also stay pretty consistent due to Sony's continuous effort into emerging markets. It could potentially have its best year ever in this region due price cuts and emerging markets. 
  • The Wii will drop dramatically due to saturation and the Wii U releasing. Nintendo will keep it moderately relevant with aggressive price cuts. The Wii will probably do slightly less than what it does in the Americas. 
  • I have the PS3 at 8.0m with the Wii at 4.5m

Gap at the end of 2013: 0.5m in PS3's favor.

  • The PS3 should still be able to do moderate sales due to low price and emerging markets. It should be quite popular among smaller nations. 
  • The Wii is officially dead here due to the Wii U and PS3.
  • I have the PS3 at 6.5m and Wii at 1.0m

I Americas, between X360 and Wii....

Current gap: 9.0m
Gap at end of 2011: 8.0m in Wii's favor. 

  • 360 likely to continue strong until the holiday where the Wii steps up and sells head to head with it. 
  • The 2011 gap will probably be around 1.5m leaving the overall gap at around 8.0m. 

Gap at end of 2012: 5.0m in Wii's favor. 

  • The 360 will probably sell pretty decent next year coming off a price cut from the past holiday. It'll sell decently, but it won't be enough to have its best year ever due to saturation. 
  • The Wii will probably sell around 5.0m do to aggressive price drops by Nintendo. Not good, but not too terrible considering the release of the Wii U.
  • I see X360 at 8.0m with Wii at 5.0m. 

Gap at the end of 2013: 0.5m in Wii's favor.

  • MS will start dropping the price of the 360 to obscenely low prices to combat dropping sales. It should be good enough to keep sales moderate before the 720 releases. Microsoft should still be happy with the 360 due to profit gained from LIVE. 
  • The Wii will drop to nearly nothing with the Wii U out. 
  • I see X360 at 5.5m with the Wii at 2.0m

Gap at the end of 2014:

  • The 360 will likely catch the Wii this year.

Nice work Jay!! I do think a X360 price cut in August will propell it much higher than 1.0M though.

Probably get ribbed for this but oh well, X360 had supply issues in US last Dec, so I think if it hadn't it'd have matched Wii much better. This year I expect a 300 - 600k lead for 360 in US alone. I think the gap could go down to 7.5M

'Then you have "Three different regions, three different winners by gens end?" and I stare at this statement thinking, the Wii still has a 10 million lead in Americas and Europe, and hasn't lost it's 5 million lead in Japan... and felt it wasn't even worth opening simply because the lack of math skills would make me bang my face on the keyboard.'

That's actually quite amusing given both are quite conceivable.

Yeah, him, dunno and Zexen_lowe got let go as part of the moderation shake up, and they havn't been back since. All hated the site anyway, they only stuck around so they could ban people.

Dont mind saying this.... I had no time for Zexen at all!

He had me banned as a racist once for calling the Argentinian football team the Argies?  However, when I illustrated that the BBC, ITV, SKY, The Times, The Wall St Journal and the FT must also be racist then... it was overturned.  Thats the one time a ban really hurt me.  (I'm being serious now Rol!!! stop sniggering)

And whats more his real pic gave me the creeps....

Good riddance.

Yeah I remember that Argie incident, ludicrus. Isn't that the equiv of calling a British person a Brit?

I had no problems with Maxwell, because we were good friends. dunno wasn't bad either, even though he gave me a warning for calling someone a "fanboy" in a banter.

But zexen is a different story. He was evil and took every chance to moderate me. He even broke my glorious streak. The only thing Nintendo he liked is the Advance Wars series and even that he only played using an emulator on a PC.

Well I do think he had a spiteful streak, so I'm not surprised.

I don't know how any one can ban you though, you're very inoffensive.

I think I still have doubts that the Wii will be beaten out of those regions. IMO it will be close but I think Wii will hold on by the end of this gen. I could be wrong, but thats what Im going with.
