This may have something to do with all the positive/hopeful speculation about sales of a redesigned "3DSl" blowing up the platform.

While there's definitely room for improvement in the 3DS design, with the most blaring omission being the right analog stick, I'd be surprised if there's a major hardware update in under 2 years from initial launch. A 3DS XL would work just fine to improve the sales: longer battery, bigger screens, better 3D's angle of vision.

I agree that an XL would be a better new model than any attempt at a slimmer 3DS. I think a bigger 3D display in particular would be the biggest draw although if they bother with a new design, it should be a given that they include the largest, high capacity battery they can possibly fit into the chassis. And a right analog disk.

The only problem is that unless they source an entirely different display technology (other than parallax barrier) provided by a new vender (unless Sharp has other commercial 3D displays they're not selling anywhere else), a bigger screen isn't going to fix the narrow angle of vision. That's just the way parallax barrier displays work. Either way, I'm not even convinced people are currently buying the 3DS for the 3D feature. The price drop along with the new Nintendo titles (mario and kart) should be given credit for the increased sales.

How many do you have?

I have over 500 people on mine and over 550 times. I'm sure I'd have more if I hadn't stopped doing it for awhile after I unlocked everything awhile ago. At least until they updated it again with new puzzles and surechigai densetsu 2!

I get 10 people everytime I go to Sofmap or Bic Camera on a weekend or holiday.

I've got about half of that.

I live in a small town. Not so many 3DS owners around...


You should try a trip to Tokyo ^_^ If you live near there of course.

Just about 650-700 miles per car. :P

I'm in Hiroshima prefecture near Fukuyama city, which is West of Osaka.
The nearest big city here is Hiroshima, which is about 60 miles away. I really need to find an excuse to go to Hiroshima some time...

Your lucky you even live in Japan though! I really hope I can live there someday, I seriously adore Japan! ^_^ It seems like Onomichi is a pretty close city to you and it seems pretty large in population. Is it possible that you could take your nearest Shinkansen to Osaka, how long would that take?

The fastest Shinkansen from Fukuyama to Osaka takes about 58 minutes. :)

Onomichi is not to big, but it's very beautiful. I lived there until 2 years ago.

My wife's uncle leads a Buddhist temple there: http://onomichi-shonenji.jimdo.com/
So I visit it very often. :))

Oh cool! That is very, very fast! Why don't you just take the Shinkansen to Osaka then? Have you lived in Japan all your life or did you move there from a different country? It has been really cool talking to you. ^_^
