I stopped reading after you said the art direction was bland...

EDIT:

I plucked up the courage to read on a little more, and apparently the OST is poor too? Just typical that you had to mention Nobuo Uematsu straight after. Once again, I had to stop reading.

You said you didn't want to "blindly spew hate-speeches", but that's exactly what you wrote.

I can tolerate opinions, not bullshit. I don't know if we were playing the same game but let me put things into perspective for you.

Are you serious?  One picture of Gran Pulse and that's your argument that the art direction isn't bland?  if you actually read what I wrote you'd see that I said the only good part of the game was when you were on Gran Pulse, becuase it was natural feeling, had more freedom, and was the one location where there were sidequests.

and again, one example does not a soundtrack make.  While the game had some tolerable tracks to listen to, overall it was repetitive, bland, uninspired, annoying crap.  Also, it doesn't even begin to compare to any  FF game before it. hell, Final Fantasy XII had superior music to this and that's widely considered one of the worst soundtracks (I disagree, I love it and it's one of my favorites, but whatever.)

Try reading the important stuff, the parts about gameplay and design, stop worrying so much about graphics and sound, you're just like all those other people who are ruining my gaming experience by convincing developers that nothing matters if the game looks and sounds ugly.

I only posted one example to avoid spamming, either way, the quality in those two aspects don't really take a significant dip from what I showed you there.

The vast majority of reviewers praised many aspects of the game but rated it down because of the linearity and repetitiveness.

You, however, insult every single god damn aspect of the game because you are completely blinded by hate. If you can't professionally judge a game and praise it for it's merits, instead of trashing the entire game because of one or two aspects you don't like, then you don't deserve to be labelled a writer.

The guy made like one of the longest posts on VGCHARTZ with a lot more than one or two aspects....I know you stopped reading after two aspects but you should read it before posting something like the bolded part of your post.

You'd be a fool to be disappointed I think. The Final Fantasy franchise has always been about a new approach with every new iteration so if you have any kinds of expectations you are very wrong. The only thing you can expect is a quality game on every level and FFXIII was just that. You may not like the game but that's another story.

What a load of bull. I am an rpg collector, I have over 100 and I hated the game. It was terrible compared to nearly every rpg that came out on the ps2.

It's like FFX, except it has more choices. You can decide whether you want to further develop your skills in medic, commando, etc role. In FFX, all you did was follow a linear path in the sphere grid. It isn't until near the end of the game where you could set up your characters, but it's too late by then. There are harder enemies where you have change up your paradigms. I liked the HP refill; it saves me time from doing it myself.

I also like the no towns. Screw all the townspeople that play no role in the story and will never be seen again. I don't care about your daughter getting married or your husband's job. FFXIII eliminated the filler.

That could have been the case but for most of the game you're able to max out all three main jobs for each character before the end of each chapter so there's no specializing going on. I prefered FFX where it was clear Lulu was a black mage, Yuna a white mage/summoner, Auron a fighter and Kimahri sucked.

You mean each having a different job/class? I agree. The level up system in FFX felt gimmicky though.

It's extremely unbalanced as well. I levelled up without thinking and now I'm stuck at Yunalesca with piss poor spells, I don't even have the "-aga" spells yet.

Well that is asking for it ...

All the good spells are tucked up in the top right corner, how was I supposed to know, rather than just follow random paths =(

Ahh well, it's not really the fact I'm underlevelled, it's the fact she keeps casting zombie on everyone.

All I remember is that I couldn't choose an other path because of those level 1-2 key spheres.

I have plenty of those, I just follow a random path and realise I'm a mile away from the most powerful spells, I guess it's just poor luck, but it should be more balanced. Not to mention different characters should be spaced away from eachother, it's so irritating when Tidus is learns magic attacks and Yuna learns physical attacks.

That shouldn't happen because those level 3-4 spheres block you, those are hard to get before Yunalesca. I know the internatiol version had two sphere grids and maybe I took the one you didn't take but you are the first one that I read who had this issue.

I think you misunderstood, yes he did write a huge post where he criticised more than two aspects, which is why I said "instead of trashing the entire game".

But I think that really, he only doesn't like "one or two aspects of the game" such as the lack of NPC's and the linearity (or something along those lines). He is just trashing the entire game because either:

a) He felt dissapointed by the game and feels the need to piss all over its reputation.

b) He has completely blinded himself with hate.

If most professional reviewers can praise 10 aspects of the game, why can't he praise just 1?

I haven't found any level 3 spheres, but I have plenty of level 1 + 2 spheres and quite a few 4 spheres as well.

Runa216: I too think you just basically trashed the game for trashing sake.

I agree with some of your points, but the fact that you can barely mention anything good in the game makes your opinion no better than from one who blindly praises it without finding any faults.

I was disappointed in the game myself, but it's really not difficult to find the game some shining parts. Even if its flaws may overshadow them quite a bit.

But haters gotta hate, right? ¬_¬

I guess not all posters here can be like Reasonable.

Glad to see I'm not the only one, we saw right through him.

How about you give us some good points?? All the people who are defending the game has not given any reasons as yo why it is good. Outside of the oP

the only good things about the game were the beautiful art direction, CGI cutscenes, lightning and sazh. Everything else was poor. From the characters, pretentious storyline, linear progression, easy and automatic battlesystem, unremarkable boss fights, terrible villian, poor leveling system.

one things for sure final fantasy still brings alot of attention which is great i think 13-2 wil do just fine
