Because of the name?  Wii is my 1st console.  PS2 is my second console.  I have still not bought my 3rd consoles, the PS3.

Yeah, that may have been silly, but so was your question.  Clearly, more people value the Wii at $250 than the PS3 at $500.


im not trying to start nothin but who wouldnt value a 250 dollar console... and the ps3 is 400 by the way...


Wii is also my 1st console, ps2 2nd console and pc my 3th gaming platform. 

I wish they were that cheap here too... 250 euros and 400 euros(40gt version).

Yes I'm mildly surpised at the drops as well, but percentage wise, the Wii dropped really hard. So it shouldn't be that surprising.

give it up... the biggest problem with all of your argument is that you are assuming that graphics are the #1 thing that the majority of people look at. I think the longevity of the PS2 and Dominance of DS over PSP and Wii over 360/PS3 shows this. So quit throwing around processor arguments... that was like so pre last generation (remember when PS2 and Xbox were throwing around those Polygon per second numbers....)

First post, woo.
I wouldn't choose a first console, currently I own a Wii, 360 and DS Lite, and I buy whatever games appeal to me on each system. I haven't bought many DS games lately, it seems to be more Wii/360 stuff. I might be buying a PS3 later on this year, when some of the bigger exclusives come out.
 Europe is traditionally a Sony stronghold. I believe the PS2's installed base is far higher in Europe than it was in Japan, but I'm not sure what the specific numbers are. I think Wii will continue to beat PS3 out in Europe/Others sales for most of 2008, with PS3 taking some weeks depending on big software releases. The important thing to note about Europe, and the UK specifically (my homeland, woop) is that the Nintendo brand is much stronger now, and appeals to a very wide market. (As many of you might have noticed, this UK effect is reflected in the sales figures you compile!) I think this'll be a major factor in keeping Wii sales just above those of PS3 in Others for the majority of weekly sales.
