Whoa! After the numbers from the week before Christmas and the preliminary Japanese numbers I was expecting NA+Others to do 200k-250k combined (due to shortages and huge expected Japanese numbers) but they did more than that individually:
NA: 325,762
Others: 284,155
This means that the Wii has a good shot at another 1M week (but not assured yet, depends on how close The Source's 400k estimation is).
It also means that Nintendo managed to stockpile twice as much as my (admitedly conservative) estimate. If sales don't drop for the first two week of January (indicating supply airshipped for Christmas) I will have no idea when they will have managed to stockpile them (unless they increased production to 1.8M at the beginning of July instead of the assumed beginning of August).
Also, even without japan the PS3 is soundly beating the 360 by 60k which means that the PS3 beat it beat it by more than 100k (probably about 150k) over the holiday season so I must say congratulation to Just_Ben and all the others who called it, it is very impressive.
The PS3 also dropped less (in percentage) than the 360 in NA which is a vey good thing for Sony as it is their weakest market against the 360 and the most encouraging sign if they want to have enough momentum to get to second place.
2008 is shaping up to be very interesting indeed.
