Forums - Politics - Why do people vote?

Simple thread, why do people vote? I have never voted in my life. There's some reason's for that. I don't really trust any politicans, there all liars and only tell you what they want to hear. I can't really take any politican at there word and don't understand why anybody does. I also don't ever want to be called for jury duty, because voting is how theyse find you. People always seem to vote for the same liars and cheats over and over again, this is another thing I don't understand. So,why do people vote,it really has'nt seemed to make a differnce in our broken politican system. I'm mostly speaking to the American political system,I don't know how's it is outside of America,So what saids you?

There is no point to vote in USA if you don't vote for the two major parties. Sure maybe another party might win a local election but you might as well just throw your vote away if it is for national. I hate the two party system (winner takes all). I won't ever vote in the USA again (did the pointless voting once) until they change it to a multi-party (proportional representation) system. Two party system can fuck off. Republicans and democrats are lobbyist controlled piece of shit parties.

People vote for the lesser devil.

If you're not going to vote until "they" change it, why not find a movement that supports your views (e.g. constitutional amendment to proportional representation) instead of sitting around not participating?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

My dad always said, you can't complain about something unless you try to change it. So I vote in order to complain ^^

I just lost all hope.  Maybe a younger person can bang their head against the wall.  Perhaps, I should try harder but it seems that my wanting a better representative government doesn't register on most people's minds.  You would think more people would realize that the two-party system (winner takes all) is broke and a better alternative exists.  I just don't see anyone out there that wants to change our actual system.  When you have a voting rate that USA has it should be obvious that this system isn't the best.

Your post is exactly how I feel.

Yeah I know all politicians suck, but I'd still rather have the better party in power. I will more than likely leave Canada if the NDP ever gets elected. They were in power in Ontario a while back and they did a shit job, so I wouldn't ever want them running the entire country.

I vote so I can complain about the guy who gets elected.

If you don't vote... well you don't have any right to complain because you haven't even attempt the smallest thing that could be done for change.

srry double post.

the internet is pissing me off right now.
