Forums - General - Check out my webcomic, Variables

Hello, fellow VGCers. Some of you might remember that way back when the dinosaurs were new (last December), I started a webcomic.

Well, I've finished the first issue of the damned thing and wanted to share it.

It's ridiculous how long these things take to finish. Each page is roughly 15 hours of work and that doesn't include site maintenance, promotion, blah blah blah. But I'm pretty proud of the thing since it's the first comic I've finished after several hundred aborted attempts over 20+ years.

So, if you have the time, take a gander and let me know what you think of it.

I'm starting work on it now. The first page (and cover) will be posted some time in mid-August. I'm hitting up a music festival and then San Diego Comic Con this month so I won't be working on the book for a week or two.

In the meantime, I'll be posting a five page short story to fill the void.

I enjoyed it. Not sure what improvements could be made. Is this going to be comic for everyone or adult oriented? If more towards adults you could have humor in it like Archer cartoon series has. That would lively up some of the parts. Seems like a good start though with mysteries in it to keep the reader interested in what happens next.

I'm shooting for something more PG-13 in nature. There will be a few adult situations but nothing too graphic. It doesn't really fit in with the story. Humor will play a part in the series but I tried to avoid it in the first issue, as the subject material is pretty serious to start off before some of the more insane characters are introduced. Most of the humor will come from the actual situation and character him/herself, not any punchline-type stuff.

I can't wait to reveal the next character. In my opinion, he's both tragic and fucking hilarious.

It's done!? I used to check it out every week but then I decided to wait a few weeks so I would have a lot of content to read instead of just one page. Wow, did the weeks pass by quickly or what? I'll read the whole thing from the beginning when I go to work, tonight. As for right now: Sleepy time.

Yep, wrapped the first issue on Tuesday night. It was a HUGE relief.

Good read, I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes in the future. Make sure to post when the next issue is out.

Thanks, will do.
