A report over on The Daily states the Zune Marketplace on Xbox Live could be changing into a streaming subscription service. According to an anonymous source at Microsoft, the Zune service could take on the same sort of streaming option Netflix and Hulu Plus offers. It’s unknown if the new initiative will be part of the console’s streaming TV service set to launch in the fall or not, or even if it is part of the rumored Diamond TV service MS was rumored to announce at E3.

If they do a fixed price for the year like they do for music and allow you to watch any HD film whenever you want for 1 yearly cost of £90 then Microsoft will own digital HD space. I pay £89 a year and have access to any music ever recorded anytime. Its natural films follow. And imo nullifies the need of huge excess costs of physical media.

Please do this Microsoft. I already watch 1080p films with no controller. Watching them with next to no cost ( £8/month for as many as I want ) is the best thing to happen to film watching imo.

? Zune marketplace is working. At least in EU, where Zune and iTunes account for 90% of the digital film revenue. With Zune beating iTunes for film rent and buy revenue. That's hardly surprising considering Zune marketplace has just about any film on there in 1080p HD via stream and download already. With the best stream software I've ever used. This news of moving Zune under the Xbox name is just one aspect of MS strategy. They have moved other softwares and services under other names recently. So it has nothing to do with good or bad current success. The big news for alot of people would be an option to pay as fixed price for unlimited HD film access lime Zune already does with music. And have all off it for 1 price across pc,wp7 and 360 like my 1 cost for music gives me right now.

If they can make it like Hulu and Netflix put together with much more recent content then I may get it.

Sounds great, I just hope its easier to find movies than netflix

I am interested in what kind of content would be provided in Britain from such a service, if it is worth it I will buy into it... ofcourse thats assuming this is true.
