Brazil has one biggest proportions of taxes/PIB in the world. A Brazillian has to work 5 months just to pay taxes. And our public services are compared to some of the poorer african countries.

The majority of the Brazillians live in cities and south/southeast of the country, the wealthiest part of it. It's so big that you can fit all of Europe minus Russia in it. It's actually bigger than continental US of A( that means you don't count Alaska).
