I'm watching you.

Please try to stay on topic. If you want to discuss about others things you are free to open a new thread.
I will update the thread with more info, probably not posted.
UPDATE 2
Iwata on the significant of Nintendo’s partnership with EA for Wii U…
I understand that the reason why (EA CEO John) Riccitiello was kind enough to come up on the stage is probably because EA thought that with Wii U they’ll have a better opportunity for software creation.
When we approached EA and provided them with the concept and the possibility of Wii U, I believe they thought, OK, with this machine, they’ll be able to do something that they really want to do.

Oh please. I've seen no one criticise Nintendo on this site more than Nintendo fans themselves (beuli, Rol, etc).
It's just that they criticise for justifiable reasons.
You on the other hand...not so much.

Those guys arent nitendo fans, rol is a disney nut and beuli is a dog.

Because you know that third parties don't want to develop for a system that is just gonna destroy them with mario advertisments. You can say they helped them, but it obviously wasn't nearly enough. And how does localizing games even count? Sony does this in thier sleep. I can probably name hundreds. Hell, even MS has done it better this gen. Its not BS, its me being mad at nintendo for not manning up, and bending over for other amazing developers. Atleast enough so that they could sell a platformer on thier system. Oh and btw, Monster hunter is one of the biggest ips in japan. Yet look at how bad it did in the US, oh i wonder why. Surely its Capcoms fought for abondoning thier own ip.
Edit: oh and btw again, get a grip, its a forum. |
You do realize that this is exactly what Nintendo is trying to do with Wii U, right? As for actual advertizements, I see more 3rd party advertisements on HD consoles than I do for Nintendo first party advertisements. Open up a GameInformer and look at the ad content, watch some TV and watch the ad content, look at the web advertising campaigns. The overwhelming majority is from 3rd parties paid for by their publishers (not Sony or MS).
The reason 3rd parties didn't advertise much on Wii is because publishers tend to use a ratio of marketing budget to development budget. For the sake of argument, we'll say that ratio is 1:1. So if their Wii game cost $5 million to develop, they'll give it $5 million for marketing. But if their HD console game cost $20 million to develop, they'll give it a $20 million marketing budget. This is why Nintendo 1st party marketing would easily outshine 3rd party marketing on Wii.
However, if publishers cared about their marketing getting overshadowed, they'll spend more on marketing. Furhter still, if the profits from the game match their sales expectations then the marketing campaign did its job (regardless of gettign overshadowed by Mario ads) and they have no reason to complain.
I see you are angry largely at concepts and policy you don't fully understand. I advise you to do some more research on how the marketing and ROI is handled in the industry. You'll come to a much better understanding of the situation and likely won't be nearly as mad as you are and will grasp what Nintendo is doign with the Wii U far better.

All the reports from E3 stated it was incredibly comfortable to hold, far lighter than it looks and didn't hurt their hands (some larger media outlets were given many hours of behind closed doors play time).

I always found Ninty controllers very comfortable. Especially GameCube, but mostly Wii (<3 Split controller).
