Forums - Nintendo - Wii U: Darksiders II dev easy to develop, Activision on multiplayer, EA gameplay, Cliff B buy it

From Iwata Asks:

"Regarding the Wii, the lack of software was extreme only in Japan, and the situation is a little different in the overseas markets but, at first, we thought that time would solve the issues for the Wii just as it had done for the Nintendo DS, but this was not the case. As a result, the software publishers put some effort into creating some titles, but the sales did not reach their expectations on the Wii, which made them think that they could not have high expectations for business on the Wii. At that time, a title called "Monster Hunter Portable" was selling well on Sony's handheld gaming device, PlayStation Portable. Only one title changed the whole momentum of that hardware, and because this all happened at the same time, the software publishers who were considering developing software for the Wii changed their minds and decided to make it for the PlayStation Portable. Because of this, when Nintendo failed to seamlessly provide software, there were no other titles to fill up the gaps.

In that sense, and this is common to both the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U, we think that it is important to encourage the software publishers to think "This is a platform on which we can perform our business" in the very first stage of the platform. We think it very important to make several hits from the third-party software publishers within the first year from the release of the platform, while offering Nintendo software seamlessly. In order to achieve this goal, we have shared information about the new hardware with the software publishers earlier than we did previously and built a cooperative structure, and we are developing several titles in collaboration with these publishers. I cannot talk in detail about the names of the titles, or with which publishers we are currently collaborating, because we have not announced this information yet, but what we are aiming for with the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U is, platforms which have much more software and a wider variety of software than the former Nintendo DS or Wii. Therefore, we are thinking of creating an environment where software from other companies will become hits. Please understand that Nintendo is prepared to invest in order to make this a reality. "

Silly Nintendo, third parties will just stab you on the back at the end anyway.

Just like Nintendo stabbed so many small third/second party developers in the back.

Why are you running around the Nintendo forums posting if you hate Nintendo so much?

Do you have anything to back up what you just said?

Why is Beuli going around on the nintendo forums if he hates third parties so much?

On a serious note,  third parties have tried to release games on the wii including indy devs to no avail because of nintendo, including the conduit and De blob creators. Theres a reason why third parties have all but abandonded Nintendo, people just loves to blame the third parties, but don't look to see the way Nintendo just love themselves, and Just Dance. Thats why i think the whole third parties going to support the WIIU is BS. And i don't hate nintendo, but don't fuck with the third parties. I love third parties. They my homies.

deBlob sold very well.  deBlob 2 failed on everything.   The Conduit went up against Call of Duty and got overshadowed by the 10 ton gorilla.  It still made them profits and met their target expectations.

But what third party has ever even come close to mario kart. Third parties that work for nintendo just feel ripped off. Why is it that if they make a game for Nintendo, they just can't fork over some cash and advertise for them. When MS practically Bends over for activision and Sony does the same for EA and tons of other third parties. I guarantee you, that the conduit would have sold better if Nintendo just stepped up, and said "You know what, these guys are taking a risk for us, we gotta have thier back. Lets give them some commercials, and make sure they do well *better than they did*, even in the face of defeat." And don't even get me started on silent hill.

So you didn't read the Ask Iwata part did you?

we are developing several titles in collaboration with these publishers.
Please understand that Nintendo is prepared to invest in order to make this a reality.

Sounds to me like they are about to off load a bunch of cash for co-development, publishing, funding and marketing.

Ill believe it when i see it. Ill especially believe it, when they get some exclusive third party stuff. You think Nintendo will be so fond of the third parties when their next mario kart sells 20 million copies? I don't.

Yeah! Why isn't Nintendo bailing out the devs like the government did with Wall Street? It's not their fault that their games suck or not on par with the first party games.
