I don't know about that. Maybe on the Vgchartz yes, but in the real world I'm pretty sure the Gears series has the Uncharted series beat in a popularity contest. If I looked up the number of Gears 3 beta players and compared them to uncharted 3 beta players I don't even think it would be close. Just look at the pre-orders for both games.

you are right Gears is definitely bigger than Uncharted, but Uncharted is huge too.

i dont know how many people played the Gears beta, but 3 days ago Naughty Dog said over 600,000 unique players played in the beta, so obviously that number is bigger now, especially since the beta is now public

Definitely. If there is any game that can go head-to-head with Gears, it's Uncharted. About those Beta numbers for Reach and Gears 3. 1.29 million people in gears 3 beta and 2.7 million for Reach.

do you know who had access to the gears and halo betas. for Uncharted the first week was open to just psn plus and inFamous purchasers. now its available to everyone.

You needed Halo 3:ODST to access the Reach beta and you either needed to buy Bulletstorm or Pre-order Gear 3 to access the Gears 3 beta.

No they were both free. Halo Reach beta went free on the first day that's why 1 million users downloaded it.

I'm not sure what you mean by free. ODST was the only way to get in.

Definitely having an insanely fun time with the Uncharted 3 Beta. Actually booting it up right now. It is a true Beta, having problems being ironed out, thus the reason for beta testing. Unlike the Gears beta which is just a slick way of advertising. So if you are asking which is the better Beta? Uncharted 3. Although the Gears beta is a blast, it reminds me of when I played Unreal Tournament on my PC in 2004, it even looked eerily similar to it. The video someone posted above I think was supposed to be in support of the Gears Beta, although the video looked very poor (maybe due to Youtube and their low resolution?) But like I said, I had flashbacks of UT 2004. Which is NOT a good thing when it is almost 2012. Being compared to an 8 or 9 year old game, not good.

I've played both betas since these are two of my favorite franchises. I would have to say that Gears of War 3 had a much better beta. It was much smoother and was significantly improved since Gears 2 (Weapon balance, matchmaking, and replacement players/bots). I found all the game modes to be fun and the levels were better than the 2 levels in Uncharted 3.

I really felt like Uncharted regressed. The climbing is super clunky and slow and I didn't really see anything that it did in game to improve from UC2 to UC3. I did like all the new power ups and the ability to make multiple builds. I'm not sure I'm going to purchase the game at this point. I really have no desire to continue playing MP, while Gears I was playing all the time till they ended the beta.

I could see myself playing Gears for months because of multiplayer and horde and beast mode. I would probably put down Uncharted within a month.
