One Nintendo fan is really mad:

Wow, Nintendo fans turning on other Nintendo fans, what a site to behold.

This whole thing is just boring, this has practically been Nintendo's attitude this whole generation, the difference is that their line-up for the year is much worse than their line-up of recent years and they just don't give a shit. They want the 'hardcore', they want third party support and they want more games that don't involve some form of sports or dancing to sell at least half a million units, but they aren't willing to put any effort into getting any of these things, it's the same old story, all talk and no action.

The least they could do is let a competent publisher like Atlus to take charge and just reap any benefits that come from that relationship, but they'd rather let their userbase suffer a little more until the Skyward Sword releases. Hell, the Dreamcast had a much better last year and this was all while Sega was basically on the verge of disappearing.

Nobody is turning on anybody, sir. I think you need calm down. Nobody is suffering because they can't play video games.

There have always been games that were only released in Japan, and there will be more in the future. I don't see this as being the end of the world.

Wow really? I dunno man.

Anyway, I agree with Doobie, given the sheer amount of money they've made this gen, and all the opportunities they had to make multiple 5 million sellers in the Wii's peak, yet they didn't take them. Nintendo could have done so much more than they have this gen, but didn't based purely on greed.

Like you say this has always happened, and to a bigger extent in Europe, but the situation here is that it involves America. The tides are turning, European market is becoming more relevant and is starting to get treated fairly. PAL is the new NTSC. There are still many games that don't show up in our shops, and localizations takes months to years; but then it's us, not US. The game will come down the line sometime, people are just impatient and Nintendo doesn't disclose their release schedule enough.

Obviously in an ideal world, global releases should be the norm.

I guess I failed at turning you on, but I'm not sure if you are an Official Nintendo Fan. I will need to check your Nintendo Seal of Quality to be certain.

But I do agree with assessment that Nintendo could have been selling more games if they hadn't been busy selling more games.

wasn't there a 200K petition shortly before the EU Xeno announcement? (or was that 50K? :p)

The way I see it they are willing, just not on Wii. They made their mind up that Wii will not be a gamer's console, and that that role will be played by Wii U.

That's the thing with Nintendo (and many Japanese companies imo) - they are very single minded. Sometimes so much that they lose touch with reality... I mean it's not like Wii U will sell as much as Wii did, not even close!

This isn't about effort, it's about commitment.  From now on, how do we know Nintendo will ever give their products the support they deserve?
Wii is not exactly a Virtual Boy, not a Gamecube either. It is in fact likely to become Nintendo's best selling product ever, besides the DS. And it has sold more software than the DS did, so in some ways it's an even bigger product for them.

The main point here is why should we, as consumers, trust a company to support its future products if it isn't willing to support its most successful one to date?

Imagine if Apple cut support to the iPhone? or if Sony cut support to the PS2 in 2005? Those would be devastating moves for any level-headed company!

That sucks.

updated: 14.01.2012

playing right now: Xenoblade Chronicles

Hype-o-meter, from least to most hyped:  the Last Story, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3, Final Fantasy XIII-2, Final Fantasy Versus XIII, Playstation ViTA

bet with Mordred11 that Rage will look better on Xbox 360.

not surprising. AS much as I'd like to see The Last Story and Pandora's Tower, they wouldn't exactly sell big. And quite frankly when that would happen to a tee I can already hear the fanboy bitching and moaning wondering why these didn't sell big; probably a big chunk of it being the fact that these supporters would be nothing but talk and chicken out at the last second, leaving said games out to dry in the vain hope that someone else would pick up the slack for them

I don't understand how Nintendo operate... They regularly team up with external developers to make games in first party franchises (Punchout, F-Zero, Excite, Luigi's Mansion, Mario Strikers...), yet they aren't willing to cooperate with external publishers to publish first party titles? That just makes NO SENSE!

Didn't Iwata say something about working together with third parties to market Wii games in the future?
Maybe he meant working *like* third parties do on Wii... aka sucking balls!

I am calm, being honest and speaking my mind doesn't instantly make me a crazed loon, though being a loon does sound like fun.

Posting a video showing a spoilt child asking for a toy that isn't theirs and clearly being punished for demanding that service is both misleading and insulting to a lot of Nintendo fans that have found issue with Nintendo's horrible localisation efforts and their ridiculous behaviour as of recently.

A Wii owner should be upset with the lack of effort being put forward by Nintendo, it certainly isn't the end of the world, but people have every right to be upset with a publisher who doesn't come through when it comes to delivery games to the console they manufactured and that I bought. You may be happy with their efforts, but a lot of people aren't and those people shouldn't be labeled as spoilt children when they can't even get the most basic of services for their console, which is some damn games.

Bet with Conegamer and AussieGecko that the PS3 will have more exclusives in 2011 than the Wii or 360... or something.
